Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series by Evangeline Kelley, ©2013
The Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn series (Guideposts Books) introduces readers to Caroline, Gracie and Sam as they gather for a vacation where they spent the summers as children, and follows their adventures as they fulfill their mother's dream of opening a bed and breakfast. As the sisters heal from their mother's passing, they bond in ways they never imagined and discover evidence of God's hand in the unlikeliest of circumstances.

Sunflower Summer: Book 2, Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn, ©2013
This title is now available, release date April 1, 2013.

The sisters begin their first season, after a year of polishing, refinishing and refurbishing their bed and breakfast. With the ocean breezes and the scent of spring flowers, they are ready with their plan and excited to put it all in place as they await the arrival of their first guests, a honeymoon couple. Misty Harbor Inn will be renting bikes and providing picnic lunches to explore Nantucket Island. The community is getting ready for the weekend Daffodil Festival. Gracie will be driving their Packard station wagon in the parade as advertisement for the Inn, and used for picking up their guests at the ferry. Gracie has kept her home in Portland and is coming to the Inn for the summer months. She brings sunflower seeds to plant in the Inn garden. Will these midsummer blooms help Gracie find her place? Beyond sharing their bluff home with guests, their lives become interwoven and blended with each of their giftings.

Sunflower Summer:
Misty Harbor Inn officially opens, and Gracie Gold, the middle Marris sister, wrestles with an overwhelming decision.

I really enjoyed seeing how the personalities of the three sisters came into play and affected their decisions and lives. I have always wanted to go to a Bed and Breakfast and I know I would love a visit to Misty Harbor Inn. The authors did such an amazing job describing the beautiful island and making me feel as if I were there! I also thought the mystery surrounding the Inn was very fascinating. I would love to visit places with such great and intriguing histories.
I think the the love shared between these very different sisters was so inspiring and to see them each work through different issues in their life was amazing. I really enjoyed these books and highly recommend them!

Caroline Marris and her sisters, Gracie Gold and Sam Carter, are finally opening up The Misty Harbor Inn in the sequel Sunflower Summer. Spring is in the air and the Nantucket Island is getting ready for the Daffodil Festival, which is the perfect time for the sisters to officially open the Inn.

Their first guests are a newlywed couple. One would think this would be great, but the couple's marriage is already falling apart before they arrive at the Inn.

Moving away from the home and her family has been hard on the middle sister, Gracie Gold, even though it is just for the summer to help her sisters out, like driving the Packard station wagon in the Daffodil parade. When she isn't helping to advertise the Inn, she is outside planting sunflowers. Gracie is a great addition to the Inn and her sisters want to try to keep her there.

The younger sister, Sam Carter, discovers a hidden room that might help her finally unravel the mystery of Hannah Montague, who vanished from the Inn without a clue over one hundred years ago.

Sometimes sequels can be somewhat of a letdown, but not with Sunflower Summer, which I read back-to-back with the first book, Seaside Harmony. The talented team of writers writing under the pen name Evangeline Kelly has once again written a solid novel full of drama and mystery. Typically, I would never read a book centered on women in their sixties, but the characters are so realistically written that I couldn't stop enjoying these characters. I do hope the authors will continue the series as I would love to visit Misty Harbor Inn again.

If I had any doubts about opening my own Bed and Breakfast, it's confirmed after reading this delightful sequel to Seaside Harmony in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn Series, Sunflower Summer by Evangeline Kelley. This is the second book in the series and you really need to read the first one before picking this one up. If you love a bit of romance coupled perfect with a bit of mystery than this is the perfect book series for you!

The series begins when three sisters in their sixties attempt to restore and purchase a historical seaside inn on Nantucket Island, something their mother had always dreamed of doing but died before that could become a reality. Now each of the sisters comes to the Inn with their own agendas and talents. Caroline Marris is the oldest but also a free-spirit. She has spent her life jet setting from one location to another writing about her travels and living in England. Her best friend, George is someone she is fond of but has never wanted to ever get married. Gracie Gold, is the foundational rock of the family. She spends all her free time living in Portland in the home she shared with her loving husband Art, who has also passed away and Gracie feels that helping her own kids out raising her grandkids makes her feel productive and useful. Sam Carter is the organizational genius and also has a great financial mind. She has one daughter, Jaime who spends her free time when not in college helping her mother out at the Inn.

Now that the Misty Harbor Inn is officially opening, they are hoping for plenty of guests to help them keep their business running. A newlywed couple is their first guests and they hope to try out their business with them before their official opening to work out all the kinks.
