Runs alright, but, January 5, 2011
This review is from: Sunforce 11264 4500 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter (Automotive)
Aside from some minor shipping damage to the side plates (no damage inside). replaced with metal and subsequently mounted in a rack very close to batteries. I haven't had any issues with its output performance to near full capacity (3800W combination resistive and inductive loads) for many hours at a time, it can run my entire house reasonably and hasnt faulted once.
What I am very concerned with is the recommended wire size listed in the manual shows 4/0 wire, and doesnt quite get around to showing the maximum input current. the current draw at 4500W is about 460Amps 4/0 wire. according to NFPA 70 (National Electric Code) this guage wire is NOT rated for this amount of current and presents a major fire hazard. I would use not less than 250Kcmil for this, myself, I am running 250Kcmil (1 to each of the four feed teminals on the back of the inverter) double again the minimum. I think that the damage problems that I have seen written so far are in direct relation to this.
it doesn't allow the inverter to absorb the current and voltage spikes from inductive loads cleanly. this inverter has so far handled some of the toughest and noisiest loads i can throw at it.. my other complaint is that the claimed standby load (inverter on, no load) was in excess of 5 amps. this is not very nice in a true solar home in the winter where every bit counts.. thus, it is relegated to only running the high load stuff that my 1KW inverter cant handle (power tools)
what amazes me most is that Sunforce tech support doesn't seem to understand this

Worked fine for about 3 weeks...., November 11, 2010
This review is from: Sunforce 11264 4500 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter (Automotive)
I was pleased to find a pure sine inverter with 4500 watt capability at a reasonable price. However, after about 3 weeks of use, which was only at about less than 50% of its wattage rating, it lighted a 529 fault code and stopped working. Such a disappointment, I had plans for it to power more devices in my solar/wind home hookup.

Inverters, October 20, 2010
This review is from: Sunforce 11264 4500 Watt Pure Sine Wave Inverter (Automotive)
This product worked well for about 2 hours and quit. The fault light came on. Don't know what happened. I have a 2500 watt Sunforce, and it works great. It was in the 30 day guarantee from Amazon, so returning the product was no problem.
