This review is from: Sunforce 60021 10 Amp Charge Controller (Automotive)
I bought this to help keep a 100 Ah Werker AGM battery charged while powering a 100 watt HF ham radio station during ham radio field day. I replaced the stock array wires with 25 foot of two conductor stranded 12 gauge zip cord (looks like heavy duty lamp cord) purchased by the foot at Lowes. This way the charge controller sits at the battery and the panel can be 25 foot away. You have to keep these DC lines as short as possible but 25 foot at 12 gauge is fine for 18 volts at this level of current. I opened the case and soldered the new cord to the PCB replacing the stock wires which I'm sure voids the warranty but at this price I'm not worried about it.
Anyway, it worked great and in 14 hours of operating SSB (25% duty cycle) at 100 watts, the 50 watt panel and this controller kept the battery between 12 and 13 volts. I couldn't be happier with it. |
