Sunforce 82250 Solar Motion Light - Pack of 2

I bought 2 of these Sun Force solar lights (model 82250) about 2 years ago from Harbor Freight, and initially I did not like the performance. How so? Well, even after charging it via it's own solar panel in direct sunlight for about 4-5 sunny days, the performance was fair. The LEDs would come on brightly and within 10 seconds fade slowly to nothing. So, I checked the battery voltages and saw that the original batteries inside (remove 6 Phillips screws), were cheap 1.2V NiCd batteries with 600 Ah. In short, I got a NiCD battery charger, removed the batteries from the unit,charged the batteries, and voila!!! Much better! Then I decided to get some more of these lights to place around the back yard, and thought that the Bunker Hill Security brand had the same batteries. No. They (Bunker Hill) has a AA battery pack consisting of 5 AA , that I did not want open it to charge it like I did previously. Nevertheless, I saw the 82250 on Amazon, picked up a pack of 2, charged the batteries on my NICD charger, and immediately thereafter put them to work in my yard!! Great, good range on the motion sensor (about 30 ft), and bright light (when using the charging method I used). Sorry this review is so long, but I had to give everyone the steps I did to get superb performance out of this device.

Have used plenty of other (LED and otherwise) solar powered lights. These work very well, just be aware that they aren't going to shoot off a ton of light. However, since they're LED, they really don't need a ton of light to stay charged enough, and can also turn on many times from very little charge.

this light has been in the sun for about 3 weeks now and still won't charge-defeats the purpose of a solar light when it doesn't charge from the sun!! so totally useless now!
