More About the Author

Wil Wheaton's successful acting career began in 1986 with acclaimed roles in Stand By Me and Toy Soldiers. He continued to build his resume through his teen years as series regular 'Wesley Crusher' on Star Trek: The Next Generation and opposite Robin Williams in Flubber. But Wil is much more than just an actor; he's an author, blogger, voice actor, widely-followed Twitter user, and a champion of geek culture.

Wil currently splits his time between acting and writing. In 2010, he joined the cast of Eureka as Doctor Isaac Parrish, and recurs as Sheldon Cooper's nemesis, Evil Wil Wheaton, on The Big Bang Theory. He's published three acclaimed books: Just A Geek, Dancing Barefoot, and The Happiest Days of Our Lives. His latest books are Sunken Treasure, The Day After and Other Stories, and Memories of the Future, Volume One. All of his books grew out of Wil's immensely popular, award-winning weblog, which he created at WIL WHEATON dot NET and currently maintains at WIL WHEATON dot NET: in Exile.

I bought this actual book from Wil Wheaton at PAX East 2010, and devoured it. His writing style is easy to follow and flows nicely. I liked it enough that when the Kindle version arrived, I bought it so I can have the book with me to re-read anytime!

I recommend this book highly!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Sampler For Old And New Readers, March 19, 2011

This review is from: Sunken Treasure (Kindle Edition)
C.S. Lewis once said that "Friendship is born at that moment when one person says to another, 'What! You too? I thought I was the only one". If you're a comic book, science fiction, video game, roleplaying, or just fan of Wil Wheaton then you're in for some friendly writing.
Originally put together for a convention, this is a sampler of Wheaton's writings on different subjects. I read his website ([...]) and had his previous books, so I didn't get this one until it came out for the Kindle, and I just got a Kindle about a week ago. This was a treat, and not only for reading his work in a new medium.
There's stuff in here that isn't in his other books. Remember the video game Kangaroo? Whether you do or not, you'll be enthralled by Wil's writing about how he associates it with working on the movie "The Buddy System" and his friendship with Susan Sarandon and hearing David Bowie for the first time.
Yes, there's some stuff from his other books, but a lot that isn't. Either way, you're in for an enjoyable read.

I enjoyed reading this collection of stories about Wil Wheaton's life although I must say there's nothing quite like listening to him read stories on his podcast Radio Free Burrito. I think what I like best about his writing is its dual layer.

The top layer of chocolate-y goodness is all about his experiences as an working actor. Being on a set, working with actors, auditioning for roles are all things I will never do and can't relate to. They're interesting for the behind-the-scenes glimpse of Hollywood they offer.

The nougat center is all about things I CAN relate to: missed opportunities, parenthood, nostalgia for the 80's, self-doubt, criticism, and just how scary it is to change course at 30.

Wheaton is so down-to-earth that he makes you feel like he's your best bud (I mean that in a non-creepy/stalker way) who's made it big but still remembers who his friends are. You laugh with him, you're nervous for him, you're proud of him, but most of all you want to read more.
