Book Description

“Sunlight and Joy” is Barbara Delinsky’s heartwarming story about a couple relearning how to appreciate the simple things. Also included is an exclusive conversation with Barbara about what inspires her writing and an advance peek at her newest novel, Escape.

Blessed with three wonderful children and a life full of material comforts, Rick and Ellen have always had a happy, if increasingly busy, marriage. But when Rick announces that he’s been offered a promotion that will make the family pick up and move across country for a fourth time, Ellen is dismayed; she and their children have made a life for themselves in Portsmouth, not to mention that she is about to reach a pivotal point in her own teaching career. Ellen has always supported Rick’s dreams. What will he do when she tells him that she doesn’t want to start all over again for a job that will only make their lives more frantic?

1.0 out of 5 stars Sun Light and Joy = Worst Ever May 24, 2011

Barbara Denlisky is my favorite author, but, this is absolutely the worst book I ever read! It wouldn't be worth it if it cost nothing, I want my $.99 back. I not sure this can even be called a short story. A story should have a little more to it . My Grandchildren could tell better stories. This is absolutely the first writing of Barbara Delinsky's I've not thoroughly enjoyed.Sunlight and Joy: An eBook Original Short Story

I agree with the other two reviews...wasn't even worth the 99 cents that I paid for it. Win and few, lose a few, this one was definitely a loser....

3.0 out of 5 stars Sweet but too short??? September 22, 2012
By JPJ
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
It is my fault but I was very disappointed to find out this was a short story! Somehow I missed that. The story makes a very good point that we need to slow down and smell the roses, so to speak. As Usual, Barbara Delinsky's work is well done. There just wasn't enough of it for me, this time.
