5.0 out of 5 stars A wonderful book
This is a great book. The plot is good and there is plenty of romance. There is a very warm and light story in "Sunlight" with a kind and sweet hero and there is a darker more serious story in "Moonlight" which deals with sadness and loneliness. Both stories are toching and romantic. If you don`t cry at the end of part 1 in "Moonlight" you...

2.0 out of 5 stars glad it was a borrowed book
cause it's definitely not a keeper.

Of the two stories - sunlight and moonlight - moonlight is the better.

Sunlight is your "i fell in love with a space alien" story. Trite, too fake religious, simplistic, and really not fun enough to excuse it.

Moonlight is a vampire story, and is a bit better. If the romance had been left out, it...

4.0 out of 5 stars Excellent two-book offering of futuristic/vampire romances, April 16, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Sunlight Moonlight (Mass Market Paperback)
Sunlight is the first book in the anthology, Moonlight is the second. If you like Rebecca Flanders or other authors that do contemporary sci-fis with aliens you'll love Sunlight. The heroine is a soft-hearted author who meets the hero in an abandonned house. He has crash landed on Earth and is in danger from US gov't officials. He is lonely and calls her to him telepathicly, and they become involved. Great love story. The second book starts in ancient Greece with the story of a young boy raised as a sacrifice to the Gods. When he is left at the temple the "Goddess" decides not to kill him and turns him into a vampire then abandons him. He destroys the temple and trys to visits his love but she doesn't accept him in his changed state. He watchs her grow old and die then leaves his homeland to wander the earth. The story picks up again in present day California where he is an antiques merchant. A young woman falls in love with him and he decides to allow himself to try love again. (This second book would have been better if the author had called upon more of her knowledge of history - Madeline Baker [another pen name] usually great historical writer!)

Moonlight is a vampire story, and is a bit better. If the romance had been left out, it would have actually been good. All this effort is spent telling the story of the vampire - his origins, his character - then it's all blown to crap in a silly little tryst that is not at all believable.

not really worth the few hours I spent on it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT late night read!!!, February 10, 2002

This review is from: Sunlight Moonlight (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was wonderful! You not only get one great novel, you get two wonderful reads under the same cover! Moonlight tells the classic tale of the vampire....but with a twist. It, actually, tells the lonely tale of how he came to be in our century. Most novels romanticize vampirism. This novel tells of how it would truly be to become immortal. Sunlight was a wonderful read, too. A most unusual novel. One you won't forget.

5.0 out of 5 stars What a wonderful surprise!, February 28, 2010

Both stories were really romantic and wonderful...Now before you go running for the hills OR digging for your Trekkie uniform hold that thought! Sunlight is about a being from another planet and you will not have to brush up on your klingon to enjoy this story.(Sorry Star Trek fans I don't know the correct spellings no disrespect intended)
Sunlight very romantic but several elements reminded me of the movie Starman. I did feel like I was kept on edge hoping the couple could some how get together...Sorry no spoilers here! I liked this book better than the movie and I liked the movie. I can usually tell what is going to happen about 3/4 of the book. Not here I was crossing my fingers the whole time.
Moonlight...Starts out so sad and heart breaking I have to admit I actually had to cry. To never experience any love, compassion, or tenderness in your life...kept in a cage like an animal until you are 24yrs...Then to be sacrificed to a goddess after ensuring your bloodline is continued. Moon light is a book that takes the reader into the darkest sorrow and lonelness then soar in the heights of love and light.
These books were romance books and there are some Low level love scenes. I personally prefer a little more zip to my love scenes (Victoria Dahl, kresly cole,Aiken,) BUT Even with that being said I loved this book. This appears to be an underDISCOVERED writer whom I intend on promoting to my friends and family. I went directly to the books store today and purchase 3 more. I hope you take a chance and give her a shot.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two wonderful stories in one book!, June 12, 2008
This review is from: Sunlight Moonlight (Mass Market Paperback)
This was such a pleasure to read! I absolutely loved both stories and Ms. Ashley did a wonderful job on them. Sunlight is an alien romance where Moonlight is a vampire romance. Two very different but entertaining stories I would recommend highly.

This was my 2nd Amanda Ashley book. The first was such a disappointment, I almost didn't read this book, but I had purchased them at the same time. Sunlight seemed heavily borrowed from Starman (movie and TV series), thus lacking much in the way of originality. Lainey didn't impress me, and, while I did rather like Michah, I couldn't get engaged in the plot (which included a rather bizarre evil scientist, and characters that didn't really 'fit'.) I ended up skipping to the end without feeling I missed much in the middle. Moonlight, on the the other, started off quite well - the birthing of the vampire was novel to me. 2000 years later, however, the contemporary story was rather pedestrian, mared by Andrianne naivete, and Navarre's goodness. (None of the torment of Buffy's Angel, for example) I did, however manage to read this through.

The reviewer from Herdon, VA wrights a very discripe review, so I will just say that THIS IS A GREAT BOOK!!! The Charecters seem to come to life in vivid form. I didn't want either story to end. I have read all but her 1st book and I think that this book and a Darker Dream are her best, as Amanda Ashley. This book will have you laughing, crying, and longing over and over again. The discription of feelings, people and places makes you feel as if you are there. IF YOU WEREN'T HOOKED BEFORE YOU WILL BE NOW!
