bike saddle bags,
By
This review is from: Sunlite C-Sport Traveler 1 Bicycle Side Pannier Bag - Dimensions: 12" x 10" x 5" (Misc.)
I wanted a saddle bag to go over my rear bike rack. I found this product on Amazon and it was what I had been searching for in bike stores. I like the reflector strips on the back. The bag has a durable, black heavy nylon fabric which is easy to clean. You get mud splatters and road dirt from ridding in rain. The bags fit over the rear wheel and hangs down to about the middle of the rear wheel. I put items in the bags when I go out for a day trip. When I stop there are five zippered pockets so I can get things out without unpacking the whole pack. I highly recommend this product.

This review is from: Sunlite C-Sport Traveler 1 Bicycle Side Pannier Bag - Dimensions: 12" x 10" x 5" (Misc.)
Based on other reviews of pannier bags I had read, my main concern was securing the bags to the rack. This item does relatively well in that area. The 4 attachment points were reasonably secure, though not the speediest, but I suppose that's the trade-off.
The major disappointment in this item is the lack of rigidity on the inside, and the pretty weak means for securing the side to the rack to prevent sway/flopping. The problem could be the pairing of the pannier with the rack I bought, but I didn't see any racks with sufficient pannier support to prevent the bag corners from wrapping/curving around and tangling with the spokes. So on my first ride using these bags this morning, the little bungee cord on the inside popped off the securing D-ring (these hooks are too wide-open), caught a spoke and ripped through the cord (better than losing any spokes though). Now the bag on one side was flopping freely. This condition resulted in the rear inside corner tending toward the wheel, and ending up catching in the spokes. The result: exploded Dr. Pepper in the bag with my shoes for work! Yippee! I hate crappy products, but I also hate messing with returns, so I'll likely engineer some solution to prevent the corners from wrapping around the seat-post rack's inadequate "pannier supports" and tangling in the spokes. The fact that the bag isn't shredded speaks to the toughness of the material, at least.

These bags seem to be well constructed and fairly heavy duty. The price is also right. My only complaint is that they are a little cumbersome to install and remove from the bike rack. I also want to get two short bungee cords to keep them against the rack when they are empty so they don't flap. This is the only set of panniers I've had so I don't know how other manufactures handle the mounting.

First off- these saddle bags have very deep pockets- and you can store a lot of stuff in there. I have been able to fit my jacket, and about 4 boxes and packages to mail things in. It did take me awhile though to learn how to adjust it properly. The first time it fell off the back of my bike. Once I learned to adjust the straps onto the rack properly, they fit like a glove!

Have had no problem or issue. Initial concern resulted from a review stating that the SunLite would detach and fall off. This has not happened. True, that there is no "tie-down attachments" included with the SunLite. However, there are so many different bikes that one attachment will not fit all anyway. I simply used two 'black electrical tie straps' and in 90 seconds, I was on my way. The bags look great and are doing all that is advertised. Very pleased with this purchase!

Huge Spacious Bag,

This bag is great, fits nicely with the bike rear rack that I got. The bag itself is huge but is very light. I was able to fit 2 jackets, water bottle, plants, and lunchbox, and I felt as if I could have kept going. It is pretty simple to install onto the rear rack. There are just some bungee cords to tie it to the rack, which can be little confusing and not so easy to tie.

Death Trap,

I made the wrong decision when I bought this bag. This bag is not rigid enough to be placed on the side of the bike. Nearly caused me my life because it caught on the spokes of my bike and I fell while a car was approaching behind me. I thank all the gods that the car was slow. To top it all, Niagara Cycle blames me for putting it on my bike. The construction of this bag is so bad that Sunlite only thought about the cosmetic value of the bag and not the safety of the rider. They thought that just because there is a cardboard on the sides of the bag it will be good on a bike. What a waste. Please buy another bag. Save yourselves

Avoid. They fall off!,

These are great in principle. They're roomy and easy to use. But, they fall off! Just ask my laptop that went flying down the street. On the other hand, the Targus slip case that it was in inside the panier protected it beautifully!

I love my new bicycle panier,
This review is from: Sunlite C-Sport Traveler 1 Bicycle Side Pannier Bag - Dimensions: 12" x 10" x 5" (Misc.)
I was a little uncertain when I read the other reviews about this pannier sliding off the back of the bike. But when it arrived I saw that it came with four secure straps to anchor to the bike's rack and had a good bungie type attachment for the lower struts of the baggage rack. It is bigger than the pannier I used to have, and so I can easily fit my clothes, book and purse into it, for riding to work every morning. It is water repellent and looks nice too. Seems like most people don't like this type of carrier any more, but it is perfect for me. Whoever wrote those other reviews either: 1) had a different product, 2) was the manufacturer's competitor, or 3) was totally incompetent which prevented them from correctly attaching the device to the bike.
