4.0 out of 5 stars Great security but needs an extra key
The key on this security skewer system had a five sided 'nut' that would fit onto the recessed part of the skewer. It acts sort of like a five-sided allen key wrench. Unfortunately it came off from wear and tear from being on my keychain. Now I need to buy another set of skewers just to get a replacement key. I can't seem to find a replacement key anywhere! The...

1.0 out of 5 stars Front Wheel Stolen the very next day
I purchased these along with a new front wheel after my wheel was taken by a despicable thief here in Brooklyn. Locked my bike outside while at school and by the end of the day the wheel was stolen again. Seems like a good idea, but don't bother. This thing was too easily defeated.

What a waste of money!!!

The manufacturer doesn't even have a functioning website!

Whatever you do, make sure you keep the security key tucked away somewhere safe.

I can easily imagine how the thief did it too. All it would take is a clamp wrench and something to wedge in the five-sided pent bolt.
Next time, I'm using a separate u lock on the front wheel as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars Does what it says, July 11, 2011

The product works, uses a special key, I couldn't get the seat lock to work because the clamp on my bike is particularly small, so I would need to get a bigger more standard seat clamp, but both wheels are now locked with these and hopefully it will better protect my bike!

Good product, Light, easy to install, just 1 key so don't lose it!

These were really a cinch to put on--all you do is remove your quick release skewers, grease up these babies and stick 'em on your wheels. I've only installed them today, so I don't know how they'll be on the road, but I can tell you that these skewers feel sturdy enough to handle light riding such as commuting on pavement and the like. They're so much cheaper than the pinhead locking skewers too! Now, some people might think, "But someone can easily steal your wheels because these don't require a special key!" Then again, does anyone really have a 5 sided allen key? I don't think so, and these skewers will deter a thief from trying to take your wheels and instead go for easier prey.

I use these as thief deterrent while parking my bike on the street in Manhattan. I'm sure there is a thief out there who can unlock these, but until then I'm very satisfied.

4.0 out of 5 stars Makes Attempting To steel your bikes tires or seat a little annoying., July 17, 2011

If you use these things you may walk out of your office one day and find out your Bike Tires or Seat have been stolen. However you'll get the satisfaction that you probably made his life a bit difficult and possibly bought enough time for someone to notice the sneaky guy messing around with the bikes.

These locks seem to use a HEX type of key setup, so anyone who's got some time and a wide variety of HEX keys could probably still boost your seat and tires. Other than that they get the job done and detur, not prevent theft.
