I arbitrarily chose 32mm length during a recent single speed conversion project to match up with my new wheels. The wheels I purchased have what I would consider to be minimal sidewall depth, but these presta valves still barely poked through. If you're unsure about sizing with your sidewall, I'd go for the 48mm length instead. It seems to me a longer valve is more attractive than a little stumpy guy barely poking out. I can still use these, but longer would have been better. Heads up.

The tube, much to my surprise, is labelled the same as the old tube which came on my bike, KENDA, made in China. This is embossed near the stem, across from the stem is the Sunlite label in white. That doesn't bother me really, it's just a bit misleading, as this tube can't be too different from other tubes sold as Kenda's.

However, the valve core is removable which was not advertised, and that removable core is leaking air. I imagine once I replace the core it will hold up just as well as any other tube, this is just a disappointing amount of difficulty for what is usually a simple job.

I installed a new tube, inflated the tube to 70 PSI and got on my bike. It was sagging a little so I inflated it to 80. I pulled the pump off the valve and BOOM - out flies the valve of the tube. I could have put an eye out with that thing. From my experience, these tubes are worthless. Buy something else.

I have ridden thousands of miles on Sunlite brand tubes. The ones I'm reviewing today are lightweight. One of these did recently fail on me, however there was a hole in my tire that corresponded to the hole in the tube (it is very clear to me that the failure was due to debris and not the tube's fault).

Match the tube you buy with the riding you do. The tubes I'm reviewing here are light, I ride them on roads and paved bike paths where there is not much debris, in these conditions I rarely experience flats.

If you experience flat tires a lot, Sunlite does make other tubes that may fit your need. For Example, when I lived in Nebraska where flats due to thorns were common I ran Sunlite thorn resistant tubes (these cost about twice as much, and are quite a bit heavier). On many occasions I stopped and waited for my friends to fix flats caused by thorns without ever having a flat myself. In fact, after around 2000 miles of riding Sunlite Thorn Resistant tubes in an area known for thorns I experienced two flats, (1) a 16D nail that my tire picked up on the edge of a rural road, and (2) a broken spoke that was pushed down through the inside of the tube. Please note, my mention of thorn resistant tubes is for illustrative purposes. The product I'm reviewing is not thorn resistant.

I've yet to have any brand lightweight tube last more than about 500 miles in the rear when riding 'unprotected' (light tire, light tube, no insert). Flats are a fact of life for the 'more than casual' rider. The tubes I'm reviewing do fall to the higher end of that 500 miles. If these tubes can run 500 miles with me riding on them (I'm a big/'Clydesdale' rider), then I don't think quality is an issue at Sunlite.

I have about 400 miles on this tube and it is performing as expected, construction seems pretty good, somewhat thinner and lighter rubber compared to the Kenda tubes I was using. I have high end road bikes and pressurize to 115 psi usually. It's very important with these tubes to keep the valve stem straight/centered and if the tube comes with a knurled nut I wouldn't use it, if you tighten it too much it will rip the valve stem base. Fill and deflate new tubes 3 times to get them situated in the tire.

I was reading through the reviews because I was curious as to why this tube would warrant a one star review. Yes, I'm bored. Anyway, I've been using sunlite tubes for years. They inflate nicely and hold air very well at about 120 psi. Yes, I do get flats, but that's due to me being cheap on a tire set or the debris was just that bad. If you partially inflate the tube PRIOR TO MOUNTING then it will sit evenly in the rim. This keeps the tube from folding and pinching on itself which would cause the tube to pop before even reaching the desirable psi. I know this because that's how we learned through trial and error as kids before there was this amazing thing called the internet. Not even two years ago I got a flat in a torrential downpour, and I rushed to put that tire back on without pumping the tube first. BOOM! There went my spare tube. With a nice tire this tube will last indefinitely. I recommend it.

Pros:

1) 48 mm stem length allows ease to hold stem with fingers
while mounting and dismounting a pump so as to avoid breaking
the tubes presta head.
2) Sturdy tube wears well on road bicycles.
3) Smooth stem (rather than threaded) remains clean.

Cons:

1) Should be more widely available, it's a good tube.

I ordered these tubes just a few days ago and they arrived within the expected delivery time. (As usual with Amazon Prime!) I've ordered these Sunlite tubes before and they've given me many miles on my Schwinn LeTour road bikes. Sure, they're not the "end all" tube, but they sure are a damn good bang for the buck!
