Editorial Reviews

Sunny Day brings us 'handmade' music of the finest kind, for folks of all ages. Elizabeth Mitchell, joined by her husband Daniel Littleton, daughter Storey & lots of musical friends including Levon Helm, Dan Zanes & Jon Langford, weaves a tapestry of loving and spirited songs. Like her previous album You Are My Little Bird, Sunny Day reminds us of the beauty of the natural world & the magic found in the simplest moments of everyday life. 19trks, 43mins, 28pg bklt

5.0 out of 5 stars More Amazing Music October 8, 2010
By Jodi
Format:Audio CD
Elizabeth Mitchell continues her tradition of flawless, inspired, tasteful music on her newest CD, "Sunny Day." With her husband Daniel Littleton and their daughter Storey, she has once again produced a collection of new & reinterpreted songs which creates a whole listening experience from the first song to the last. The production is brilliant and the instrumentation is thoughtful and smart.
You will be happy to own her newest record!

5.0 out of 5 stars Inspiring for kids! October 30, 2010
By ErickaG
Format:MP3 Music
We have the great pleasure of owning all of Elizabeth Mitchell's CDs, including this latest release. It is certainly not the same as "Little Bird," as it is more of a family affair. For my listening family, this is amazing! The criticism that there is "too much Storey" is outrageous. To hear the genuine and sweet voice of Elizabeth's daughter has done nothing but inspire my children to sing more (my 8-year old just penned her first song last night because of this inspiration)! This album is excellent and an amazing listening experience for everyone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Lovely day, lovely album October 16, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I'll always love the music of Elizabeth Mitchell and family, continuing from their first album on through Sunny Day. I have to say that "Lovely Day" on this album is wonderfully warm, fresh, and completely full of love. I'm sitting here listening to it over and over, and it is just as sweet every time. Inspiring music from inspiring people!

5.0 out of 5 stars Making the parents and kids happy once more. October 8, 2010
Format:Audio CD
Elizabeth and Dan's music leaves me speechless, dreamy, hopeful, and in love. Elizabeth's voice is magical and wonderful. Our daughter Ida has never tired of Elizabeth's CDs or the Ida CDs. She dances. She sings. She is a three year old in love with music and that is due to these two. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Beautiful Album by Mitchell May 9, 2011
By April
Format:Audio CD
OK, so after reading the reviews I was hesitant to give this album a listen, but our family being huge Elizabeth Mitchell fans, we had to. Happy to say that I did. Yes, she does incoporate many children's voices on the album, she also adds many other artists including the agape children's choir of Africa and Dan Zanes along with the voices of friends and family. The result is a very sweet and unpretentious album. Add to that the use of much more refined and fleshed out instramentals and this album is just great...different, but great none the less. My children have loved learning and singing along to these new songs and they are really captivated by the music and I think my 2 year olds love hearing the voices of other children and really, it's very well done. She includes some wonderful covers, original compositions and traditional children's songs and the result is another magical family album. Listening to Ms. Mitchell in the car really is the most peaceful part of our hectic day!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic CD for kids and parents! April 21, 2011
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
We rented this from our local library and have listened to it at least 5 times every day. My 5yo boy LOVES it and knows how to turn the CD player on and select this CD. The songs are wonderful, we love the kids sweet voices, and everything about this cd is fantastic. I plan to start playing this for my kid's yoga classes, we dance during part of our class and each child makes up their own dance moves. I highly recommend this Cd for families!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful, cheerful CD for the whole family! January 2, 2011
Format:Audio CD
LOVE this CD (and all her others too!) Elizabeth Mitchell has such a beautiful, pure voice and I love her folk inspired tunes! The instruments used are peaceful and soothing. This is no annoying kids CD where the parents can't wait to turn it off. I love to listen to it even when my kids aren't in the car!

To the reviewer who thought that there was "too much Storey" singing on the CD....I couldn't disagree more! (And I have a fairly low tolerance for that). Storey (Elizabeth Mitchell's dauther) adds a lot to the CD and it is a family CD, after all.

5.0 out of 5 stars Instant Hit December 29, 2010
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
Some music Cd's take some listening to really get to likin. This CD started out right in the sweet spot from the very first song. We put it on right after all the kids finished opening presents and they all stopped playing and congregated by the CD player. Wow they loved it.

These songs are beautifully produced. Simple songs, simple instrumentation, beautiful voises, nice arrangements. A very friendly CD.
And a big YES - the addition of forefront children's voices adds a familial charm to the music.

Its a pleasure to have such user friendly music in our world filled with gaga trash.

2.0 out of 5 stars Elizabeth Mitchell should not have her daughter sing along.
Elizabeth Mitchell's daughter sings along on many of the songs and the daughter's immature voice interferes with her mothers singing!

This is my second album by E. Mitchell. I think it doesn't have the same flow and finesse of You Are My Little Bird. It's slightly abrasive and not as pleasant to listen to. Read more
