A friend of mine bought a larger machine made by Crazy Fit but from a different company and even though she paid twice as much, I found mine was very similar.

A vibration machine could affect your health in positive ways, but it could also harm your health. If the vibration is under 20 hertz, it could harm the body as people in certain occupations like truck driving have learned. So you need to know exactly what frequency you are setting the machine on. Unfortunately, the instructions to this machine provide no information about the frequencies. There are different speed settings from 1-20, but these are just relative numbers that reveal nothing about the actual frequencies. I couldn't find anything elsewhere on the Internet either. Also, the instruction manual is very poorly written. The model is made in China.

The unit is pretty heavy and the construction is solid steel. Having just bought it, I have no idea how long it will last. I definitely think it deserves to have one star knocked off due to the lack of information since it could negatively affect one's health. If anyone can find this information, please post it in a comment.

More expensive units should come with some detailed information to inform reassure you about correct and healthy ways to use the machine. But you shouldn't have to pay more for this information.

By the way, when using these machines you should not stand with legs locked and upper body fully upright because it will cause excessive shaking of the internal organs.

(I changed my opinion somewhat after writing this review and upgraded the product from 3 stars to 4 stars. Comparable products are better quality I guess, but way more expensive. Please see my later comments).

This is a great machine for the money. It does work best to use your own tools for assembly, but the machine itself is well-made and comparable to those I've seen at conventions and online that sell for over $1000. The machine runs smoothly and very quietly. I've been using mine for a little over 3 months now. I've had low back issues for 20+ years. My chiropractor has a WBV machine too and approves of my using mine. He even recommends WBV to patients. But, I've found I must ease into this very slowly. I tried the higher speeds, which make me feel exhilarated, but it can hurt my back at these speeds if overdone. Now, I'm gradually increasing the speed to level 7 each time, and will gradually build up to higher speeds as tolerated. (It goes up to 20 levels.) My chiropractor cautions me to slow the levels down before quitting each time. There are two positions that are not good for people with back problems. One is sitting on either half of the plate, the other is leaning over on the bars while standing. If a person is standing upright, the vibrations are helpful for back strengthening because the machine uses a rapid pivoting motion, more similar to walking. I have the impression that my back will get stronger and stronger as I use this machine consistently and don't overdo it. Regarding weight management, I have not lost any pounds yet even though I use my machine for at least 10 minutes daily. I will say this, if I'm feeling sluggish, it really revives me in the afternoons. One last word of caution, do not use this machine on a full stomach. Personally, it works best for me to wait 1 to 2 hours after eating.

Edit--
I'm now not sure if this is the linear type machine or not - so very much contradictory information out there! I guess (as far as my current level of understanding goes), this machine does half the motion of some that people claim to be best - that is it pivots, but does not additionally vibrate. So if I were to buy one again, I'd find one that pivots AND vibrates. These cheap China-Vibe units don't have much in the way of documentation on these listing pages, so it seems hit and miss!

Also, I'm starting to think that my regimen of 40-60 minutes per day needs to be cut back to 20 minutes twice a day or even less to play it safe, and maybe a longer session is OK if I rest for two days. You can really kick your a$$ on this machine without even breaking a sweat.

But I can tell you, in all my life, I've never been cut. This machine (and similar ones no doubt) has cut my muscles. It's weird to look like a fitness goddess while being a life-long couch potato all my life (I hike with poles too which is the other 1/2 my workout so don't get me wrong here).

Lastly, who knows how long this unit will last? If it lasts a year, it will be worth it. But If I ever get a straight answer from someone who: 1) isn't a contributing member of the peanut gallery, and 2) someone who isn't a dealer for a competing product, I'd probably buy another machine - one that vibrates as well as pivot.

End edit--

I ordered this primarily for my mom, but I wanted to use it too. She's used it a grand total of one time, but I on the other hand, have really taken a liking to this whole body vibration thing. I use it practically every single day for 40-60 minutes per session.

I did quite a bit of research on whole body massagers and this one seemed to be the best value. It is well made, quiet and I really have enjoyed it. A friend of mine bought a larger machine made by Crazy Fit but from a different company and even though she paid twice as much, I found mine was very similar. I highly recommend this machine.
