It's not heavy and doesn't take up space so serves well as a everyday exercise station. I use it while I watch a sitcom. It doesn't give you a toned body in 1 week, but I bought it for a long-term health improvement so I think it's perfect for that purpose. The only complaint I had is the connecting piece of the resistance band was made of thin plastic so it broke when I was trying to connect it to the machine, so I never got to use the band. I am using regular 3lb weight instead, and they work just as well. This might be the one I can stick with.

I was a little alarmed when choosing a stepper to find that this one had a number of bad reviews. Not an overwhelming amount, just a fair percentage: slightly under 10%.
When I read those less-than-stellar reviews, though, it seemed that the persons writing them had issues with the extra features, not the stepper itself. Many of the 1- and 2-star reviews cite broken resistance-band clips as issues, and the computer clearly doesn't work very well, if at all.
The seller, however, had a very good rep.
I opted for this stepper because I didn't want the resistance bands and didn't care if they're of bad quality, and I use music to time my workout, so I didn't care about the computer either. I also opted to spend the least amount of money possible because I didn't know if I'd end up using the thing consistently. (Still not very good at that, but improving.)
When it arrived, it was clearly a returned unit: the packaging had been sealed, let's say, less than professionally. I gulped.
But: this basic stepper does exactly what I want it to: it's easily adjusted, has a small footprint, and is very sturdy. I have no fear at all of falling off it, or of it failing catastrophically while in use. I don't want the resistance bands and don't have any use for the computer. If you do, read the reviews, and decide on that basis.
If all you need is a very basic stepper, though, this will do the trick very nicely indeed.

This little stepper is excellent for the small price. My mother uses it with a walker to help keep her stabilized. She uses in every day -- she's 83!

It always puzzles me that people spend lots of money for workout devices, thinking the more expensive the better. Consider pro boxers. Do you ever see them train on expensive machines? No. They jump rope, do push ups and sit ups, use a medicine ball, jog several miles in the morning, hit the speed bags, etc.

This item does a lot if you exercise MINDFULLY. If you think you can just put your feet on the machine and pull on the bands, and the machine will care for itself, it won't work. But there's nothing wrong with focusing on what you're doing. You need to balance yourself on the stepper and be aware of maintaining equal weight proportion on your left & right sides. You need to learn to step smoothly. You need to be aware of what your body is doing, not just the machine. That said, once I got down the basics, I've had not trouble.

Pros: Takes up very little room; can be easily stored
Helps develop core balance since YOU have to balance yourself. It doesn't do it for you
I find the material to be well-made and the device well constructed.
The resistance bands are as sturdy as any I've had in the past.
The read-out indicator of steps per minute, work out length, etc. are OK. Do you really need a device that is accurate to within a microsecond?
The 'manual', although very basic, is written in grammatically correct English. If you've gotten Asian products with indecipherable instructions, you know this can be a benefit. You can always get a simple resistance band guide to help with coming up with your own routine.

Cons: The maximum weight is stated as 220, but I wouldn't recommend it for anyone over 200 pounds.
If you wear a sneaker/shoe larger than a 12 men's, you will probably have trouble with the size of the steps.

Before purchasing this mini stepper I read all of the reviews, not only for this stepper, but for all of them that were available from Amazon.com as well as Ebay. I was hesitant because there were some negative reviews but this stepper had better reviews than the other models so I figured I might as well try it as the price was certainly reasonable enough. This is the third stepper than I have owned. The first two were full sized models, both of which I have given away. I LOVE this little stepper. It is well made and it is worth the price. It is easy to store and doesn't take up a lot of room. True, the bands and clips aren't very durable but so far mine haven't broken. If they do I will buy stronger replacements because I like using them while using the mini stepper. Some have said that their mini climber is noisy. Mine isn't noisy at all. If it starts squeaking I will lube it as the directions tell you to do.

This is a perfect exercise machine to use at the office or in my instance, in my travel trailer while traveling. It's great for a cardio vascular and low impact workout. I am 5'6", 125 lbs and in my mid fifties. Although I'm sure this equipment would not be adequate for a 250 lb jock, or someone looking for stronger resistance like you get from gym equipment, it does the job and I will say that it works for me. It's exactly what I was looking for.
