Product Description

Amazon.com Product Description

Designed to fit digital point-and-shoot cameras, the Sunpak CAM-2110 0.5x wide-angle conversion lens doubles the angular coverage of the lens at the wide- angle setting, letting you shoot group pictures in tight spaces or expansive scenes. The CAM- 2110 employs Sunpak's MagMount system, which boasts a powerful circular magnet at the rear of the conversion lens. The magnet, in turn, holds the conversion lens in place when fixed to a 17 to 27mm point-and-shoot lens. As a result, you can enjoy wide- angle effects through almost any larger digital point-and-shoot camera, specifically cameras that lack threaded accessory rings. The CAM-2110 comes with such accessories as mounting rings, protective front and rear caps, a lens tether, and a drawstring pouch.

What's in the Box

I purchased this lens to get wide angle on my Flip UltraHD.

The sticker magnet (provided) is easy to place and seems to hold well. The magnet is strong enough to hold the lens in place (it will fall if you really shake it, but will work for regular use).

The image quality with the wide angle lens is surprisingly good: still bright and no noticeable distortions, even at the corners.

Fairly inexpensive, easy to mount: this is a good solution and I highly recommend it.

I purchased this lens for use with my Aiptek Action HD GVS 1080P.

Fitment:
Unfortuntely, the adhesive-backed rings were too small of a diameter to fit the bezel around the lens of my camera. I found another way to get this lens to work but, you'll want to make sure to measure the whatever ring, rim or casing your camera has around its lens.

Specifically for the Aiptek Action HD GVS - the outside diameter of the camera's lens bezel and the outside diameter of the narrow part of the lens in the Amazon product picture are almost exactly the same. The trouble is, the magnetic ring has a smaller diameter and doesn't fit the camera bezel. For my camera, I removed the lens bezel, placed the magnetic ring on the bezel's underside and reattached the bezel. For this camera, you may want to try something else (if you can find it anything). I searched high and low, and this was the best thing I could find.

Image Quality:
Once I did get the lens mounted, the image was were great. The Aiptek that I have has a very narrow field of view and this lens definitely opened up the scene.

Justification:
So why three stars? Fitment was an issue and I could have just returned it instead of "making it work" but, they really could have more thoroughly explained what on the camera I needed to measure. The package I received from Adorama didn't include any magnetic rings, but they shipped them to me for free and the customer service was fast. The image quality was great for a small lens.

What to take away from this review? Measure, measure measure.

Nice try, but no... August 5, 2008
By Bill F.
It fit my camera perfectly, but, the photos are blurry.
Even when looking through the lense with your eye, the center seems a little out of focus. (In comparison, when you look through a professional 35mm wide angle lense, there aren't any blurry parts.)

works as advertised
Gave the cheapie Aiptek camera a useful field of view.
I duct-taped the lens on, since I see no reason to operate without it.

Absolutely necessary
I've got an Aiptek HD 1080p video camera. It's great, except for the fact that the default minimum zoom gives you like 5 degrees to work with. Read more

Dark spots with flash
It's good if you don't use the flash is my only complaint. It's a good tool however for me. If you use a flash it creates a shadow in lower left corner of the shot. Read more

Worth the price!
Very handy item for my Aiptek. Does exactly what it says. It's pretty neat the way the lens magnetically sticks to the camera. Read more
