4.0 out of 5 stars great fan
I got this because at night I get hot sometimes and just dIdn't want to get up and have to turn a fan on, this one has it's own little remote, so just set it by your bed side and your ready to go.
It has 3 speeds and I just wish the lowest one was a bit slower, for just a nice night time breeze that would be perfect, but maybe
thats just me, there is a "sleep"...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good enough for exercise room
Based on the reviews I found the fan noiser than expected. Fortunately I needed a fan while exercising on my Nordic Track so it's fine, but I would not want this in my bedroom as even on the lowest speed it's too potent. It really needs a fourth speed even slower than the first. The "sleep" mode is totally useless as it turns the fan on and off in the most annoying...

ya got me, it's just annoying I think, I never use it.
It' also adjustable about 9 inches up and down, and has a sweeping motion if you want, over all I like it very much.

This is an excellent fan that assembled quickly and is quiet. I bought this fan as a replacement for a Lasko that I returned because it was so noisy.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful "Quite" Remote Fan, October 8, 2010

I love this fan. It's so quite and it does the job it is suppose to do. I had purchased a Remote Lasko fan before this and it was so loud it sounded like a propeller airplane. I ended up putting it in the garage. This Sunpentown SF-1468 is so perfect I just ordered two more of them this week.

Based on the reviews I found the fan noiser than expected. Fortunately I needed a fan while exercising on my Nordic Track so it's fine, but I would not want this in my bedroom as even on the lowest speed it's too potent. It really needs a fourth speed even slower than the first. The "sleep" mode is totally useless as it turns the fan on and off in the most annoying manner--what were they thinking?

Another issue is the controls on the fan are at the base, which means floor level. Who wants to stoop to the floor to control the fan? Fortunately it comes with a remote control. The fan can be raised up and down but it only locks in the lowest and highest position. In between the height can be hard to control as it's spring loaded.

The fan came with a sticker glued to the blade which took a lot of work to fully remove. It was some caution sticker to keep fingers away. Another stupidity and annoying to remove.

It uses 46 watts (presumably on max speed) which is somewhat more than the 34.5 watts of my old Sears 12 inch fan.

Overall it's an OK fan for an area that needs high airflow and where the noise is not critical.

and wonderfully quiet, considering it's a fan....I highly recommend purchasing this model-the power is wonderful and the choice of oscillating or not is important to me.
Also important is the remote control---so having said all that...We're loving it!

5.0 out of 5 stars High End Fan - Design Elegance, June 10, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sunpentown SF-1468 3-Speed Oscillating 14-Inch Standing Fan with Remote Control (Kitchen)
I took a chance on this Sunpentown fan and found a keeper.

What I usually do when buying a high-ticket item (i.e. anything over $50) is find the most popular model and brand at Amazon.com and combine it with best reviews, and use that as a baseline. But none of the popular brands offered the fan I wanted: a remote controlled table fan. When I learned that the SF-1468 telescoped between 29" to 37" in height I knew I was getting close to my specs. A big 16" or 18" floor standing model would overwhelm my bedroom. Some of the name brands are reputed to be noisy even on low, and due to crude industrial design are eyesores. It's also been reported that one well-known brand had a defective motor (i.e. it was an incendiary device).

But a 14" fan that could be compressed to 29" in height was just about right. Nor was I disappointed. The fit and finish are way above average for a product like this, and certain design touches place it in the category of industrial art. For example, when I first opened the box I couldn't find the remote, then discovered it was snugly ensconced in the base of the fan. Moreover the control panel in the recess for the remote is an exact replica of the remote control panel. Then there are the transparent fan blades which, along with the ingratiating color scheme, contribute to an airy lightness to the fan. And, just as I'd hoped, on its low setting, the fan is whisper quiet.

A couple of caveats. When I first tried to assemble the fan, the front grid would not attach to the rear grid. After about 15 minutes of hair-pulling frustration I discovered that the grid ring had been improperly mated to the rear grid at the factory. As soon as I corrected this, the front grid snapped right into place. Also, the two AAA batteries had arrived leaking electrolyte. Finally, you cannot turn oscillation on and off with the remote - oscillation is controlled manually.

This is a provisional review: I have only owned this fan for a few weeks and cannot comment of the reliability of the motor. But on balance, this is one of the happiest purchases I've made in some time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Powerful oscilating fan with a great remote control, December 30, 2011

The fan requires some light assembly ( less than 10 minutes or so ) and the materials used in construction appear to be of good quality.
The fans ability to move air is outstanding even on the lower fan speeds.
The remote (though a little small ) is easy to use and the fans response time is virtually instantaneous unlike the large ceiling fans we have in a few rooms.
The noise level on the two lower settings is hardly noticeable, and on high it has enough power to blow homework off the coffee table :). On the other hand if something gets burnt in the kitchen the fan is easily strong enough to clear the air through the sliding glass door in no time.

This fan is a new arrival at our home and at this time it's easy to recommend it to anyone, but if it begins to break down quickly I will update my review ASAP. But my first impression is that it's outstanding for a smaller apparently well built modestly priced fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sturdy, powerful, a little loud, December 15, 2011

This is a very sturdy fan that looks to be of good quality. All of the parts are solid. I did find assembly to be a bit tricky here and there; a couple of the steps are counter-intuitive and require careful reading of the instructions. Operationally, the fan is very nice. The remote works well. My only complaint is that the lowest setting is a bit too powerful, and thus a bit noisier than what might be desired. There is a low motor hum even at the lowest setting that might be annoying to someone looking for a very quiet fan.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great for the Price, October 12, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sunpentown SF-1468 3-Speed Oscillating 14-Inch Standing Fan with Remote Control (Kitchen)
The fan arrived in a well packed and protected small box in several pieces. None of the pieces were damaged, missing or non-functional. The assembly was quick and easy with only one problem. I found it difficult to affix the front fan guard onto the rear guard. I simply couldn't get the front piece to snap in, however I actually like the fact that I didn't snap it into place because I can remove it, which will make it easy to clean the blades and the guard of dust and debris in the future. I believe that if you did snap the front guard onto the rear guard it would be nearly if not impossible to remove it. That said, I did attach the front guard, it's firmly attached and is not coming off by intentionally hitting or accidentally bumping it. I'd describe it as 99% attached as only the very bottom is not snapped in around the rim of the rear guard.

The actual functionality of the fan is where the rubber meets the road. The buffeting sound generated by the blades is acceptable on high when used in say a living room when watching TV where there is moderate noise that distracts or drowns out other noises. In the same environment the sound is not noticeable when on medium. Although the sound is acceptable on low when used in a bedroom while sleeping, I've found the amount of airflow to be quite generous, which I find slightly too much for sleeping, however if you move the fan farther away from you as opposed to only 1 foot away the airflow dissipates enough to be about right. Unfortunately, I have a very small bedroom and would have loved a fourth and even lower setting.

My biggest and most significant complaint about the fan is one that others have previously noted. The sleep mode is not a countdown timer like that found on many TVs that turn the TV off after the time expires. Sleep mode simply turns the fan on and off repeatedly, which I can't figure out why such a feature is even needed; it's oddly irritating, annoying and stupid to watch. Nothing to worry about though as the fan has a timer function that does run the fan for a preset period of time and shuts itself off. Lastly, the remote control is an awesome feature that makes using the fan easy for the lazy man in his lazy boy recliner; just note that the oscillation feature is controlled via the typical up-down peg mechanism found on most oscillating fans - that means you'll have to get up to enable or disable that function.

I like everything about this fan except it's not tall enough. It is quiet and does throw a nice breeze into the room.
