In our current economy why heat up the big Oven and the kitchenwhen this small but efficient oven can do everything the big stove can , only faster. I have learned to buy the small pizza's to fit , cooked frozen pork roast to perfection , bake potatoes and even made golden brown pies. I love it ! I use my Big Convection Kitchen Stove to store pots and pans and who needs to spend money on electric bills to turn the self clean on when the base of my 1.2 Liter turbo oven can go directly into the dishwasher or just wipes clean with a damp rag. I "AIR FRY" potato steak fries crisp with a little cooking spray in this wonderful machine. The only drawback would be that the manufacture failed to include a cooking chart . I had one left over from my Jet-stream oven or Flavor-wave oven that was mostly made of plastic parts. Both ovens worked well but I was always sending for costly replacement pieces. This OVEN being made of glass as heavy as a large mixing bowl should last for years.

Cooks well but inconvenient, check out other brands,

I bought this one because of the high tech gadget; instant start up thinking it would be a time saver. This instant heat oven does not seem to cook faster than the other ovens in the same category. It does a good job of cooking, but it is less convenient than other similar brands. I use it because I am usually in a hurry but the design slows you down. The engineers have decided they are smarter than I am and therefore are entitled to make my cooking decisions for me. They have graciously and inflexibly set the timer to start at 40 minutes even though I usually cook fish at about 12 minutes or a chicken for an hour and 20 minutes (yes it takes that long for a small chicken). I have to stand there holding the timer button waiting for it to cycle through all the numbers until it gets to the duration *I* want. Other brands either have memory, start at zero, or have a dial. But wait, there's more! The temperature always comes up in centigrade. You have to push more buttons to see it in Fahrenheit and then hold the button down until it goes through all the numbers until it reaches the cooking temperature you want. Short story, you have to unnecessarily fiddle around with this machine before it will cook. I wouldn't be surprised if the next model requires a flight plan?Other drawbacks: the labels on the top must be water based as they smear and come off, you have to be careful not to use too much water on any cleaning cloth or you will erase them. Also the lid holder is inconvenient. You have to stick the hot lid into a wire slot and be very careful not to hit the wire with the hot lid. Other brands just have a simple rack on which you can place the hot lid. When measured with a Tri-field meter this unit puts out a magnetic field which is considered to be in the biologically active range. It measured 25 milligauss close up, and was measured at the 1 milligauss level (considered the biologically active limit). about 5-6 feet away. So this like many other kitchen appliances is not one you want to stand close to while it is operating. I would not buy this one again and would look at the operation of other brands such as flavor wave or Aroma.

Great product.i've been using it almost daily since i got it. it works great and is easy to clean. i live in a small condo and used to not be able to cook many things at home because of the smell or the extreme heat produce by my oven. thanks to this oven, i have been able to even cook sausages without leaving the house smelling like them.

Better and Cheaper than NuWave Oven,

If you read the reviews for all the NuWave Ovens here on Amazon and on other sites, you will see that at least 3/4 of them complain that the plastic cover cracks with normal use. This oven is made out of glass making that pretty much impossible. That, and the lower price (about 1/2 the cost of NuWave) is why I chose this brand instead. Also, I didn't want all the "free" stuff that NuWave offers.I am happy with that decision. This oven does what it claims to do and I'm not disappointed. FYI, I use this for small portion cooking. 1 to 2 servings of boneless chicken breast. A 6-8 oz flank steak. A medium serving of white fish. 1-2 servings of vegetables, etc. I haven't used it to cook larger items (such as whole chickens) yet, so I can only comment on how it cooks those smaller portions. It does this very well. Being a body builder, I eat a lot of lean protein per day. This oven gives me another option to go to when I'm tired of my BBQ grill or my flat iron (George Foreman type) counter top grill. I can easily throw a single serving of lean animal protein and some veggies on this and my meal will be ready in 15 - 20 min. Not as fast as the flat iron grill, but still pretty fast and more versatile. And more importantly, the food tastes good, although it is not cooked as evenly as I thought it might be. But this is not really a big deal. I just flip the meat half way through and that takes care of it. For some, the size of this oven might be an issue. It's pretty big, and if you have limited counter and storage space, you might want to reconsider purchasing this. Also, if you have low cabinets, it might be too tall to fit under them. The only negative thing about this is the owners manual. It's pretty bare bones (or should I say pathetic??). It doesn't even have an accurate description of all the parts included. I am going to purchase a convection oven cookbook to learn more about how to cook with this oven and for more recipes. If you don't have experience with this type of oven, I'd suggest the same.

This is an excellent product. It cooks quietly, efficiently, and is digitally controlled. You have to set the time and temp., (deg. F or C) and then it stops when done. I think it's a great product! I wouldn't be without it. There are so many things you can cook in it. I use a small stainless steel saute pan where you can remove the handle so it fits inside the glass bowl. Put the food in the pan, then into the oven and away you go. It's not big enough to hold a large turkey, but it's big enough for just about everything else. I love it.

I used it several times after the purchase. Cooking time was not a lot better than a conventional oven. Cooked smoked turkey legs, squash, potatoes, re-heated pizza (did a great job on this) and several other foods. After about 30 days it just quit working, picked up the lid to turn over the squash, and it never came back on. Checked circuit, plug etc, it still does not work a week later. I contacted the company by email, no response, will call today. Very disappointed in the oven not lasting. Hope I get a replacement or a refund. Cooking: It depends on the food, I find the food a little drier than an oven, but probably cooks more efficiently.

I have found this product excellent with the following issues: manual is poor with no way to know how to use the oven for everyday usage. For example, there are no recipes that show how to cook the meat and when to add vegetables, etc. It needs a cookbook or a far better manual to fully utilize its capability. Also, it does not cook as quickly as it states when the meat is frozen. Then again, it is still very fast.

Great oven but don't bother buying a replacement bowl,

The oven works well but my glass bowl broke not long after I got it (don't know how it happened). I ordered a replacement bowl from Sunpentown and it doesn't fit very well. You would think it would fit perfectly since it is from the company that manufactures the oven. The bowl was only $25 but shipping was outrageous - over $13! Totally not worth it. You can return items bought from Sunpentown but don't get a refund on shipping and would have to pay to ship it back. I bought another oven from Aldi for $39 and it works great.

This is a great lower-priced alternative to the Flavorwave and Nu-wave ovens. It is virtually identical to the Flavorwave oven in that it has the Pyrex glass bowl. It comes with two racks, low and high, as well as the tongs. It does not come with a rack to hold the hot lid when you remove it from the bowl after pre-heating or cooking. (I set it on whichever rack I am not using or on a cooling rack) The operation manual was almost non-existant, so I did a google search and downloaded the manuals / recipe books from both Flavorwave and Nuwave online. As far as performance, the Sunpentown pre-heats and cooks comparably to its competition, based on those products owned by my friends and relatives. For all of them, don't expect the magic results from the infomercials. It does a GREAT job with fresh and frozen chicken. I was disappointed with steaks cooked this way. I used frozen New York steaks which appeared to be cooked perfect medium rare, but were rather tough and tasteless. Perhaps the results would have been better with room-temp meat or a more tender cut. I was not impressed with the way it cooked vegetables (sliced fresh zucchini and yellow squash tossed in olive oil and herbs) which came out both limp and dry, not at all like oven-roasted. I have not yet tried baking cakes or cookies. Cleanup is very easy. The Pyrex bowl is heavy and everything except the motor/heating element is dishwasher safe. Overall, I am happy with this product. With a little more trial and error, I expect I will master the finer points and be able to get the most out of it.

5 stars to Amazon for their return process.Zip stars for this little darling. Fan works, but it doesn't heat. At first, the heating element worked great, then after three uses, it just stopped. I chanted over it, wiggled it, jiggled it, changed the settings (endlessly), then just threw my hands up in the air and realized that what seemed like such a good idea just wasn't. Oh, and please be aware that the glass bowl is really heavy. And I concur about the instruction book - really lacking in details. I don't want recipes; I want to know how to use the unit. |
