5.0 out of 5 stars wonderful
Our college son got this for college - during the summer he brought home this hot water dispenser and my husband and I were hooked on it. My husband makes French Press coffee every morning and I enjoy tea. Having hot water right away was wonderful. We would use it all day and refill it every evening. We loved the convenience of it. 2.0 out of 5 stars Leaks - worked for a couple years
I love what this product does, but it does not last more than a couple years. It leaks water from the lid all over the counter. It was not so bad at first but got worse. It especially leaked when the lid was open; the condensed water runs out. We kept the unit in a shallow bowl. It stopped working all together when the electronics went. They have likely shorted out...

Our college son got this for college - during the summer he brought home this hot water dispenser and my husband and I were hooked on it. My husband makes French Press coffee every morning and I enjoy tea. Having hot water right away was wonderful. We would use it all day and refill it every evening. We loved the convenience of it. So when our son got ready to head back to college we had to have it.

We never had a problem with our sons machine but our new one did quit working after a month. We called and had great customer service take care of the whole thing quickly. We have not had a single issue with this replaced one.

Our son had an older model and there are a few things we miss from that one. There was a laser light of sorts that came out of the spout. There also was a beeping when you hit the unlock button and dispense button. Neither of these is missed if you never had it.

The nice new feature is the dual pump. You can now take the unit away from the plug and use on a table to serve hot water.

This machine is wonderful if you plan to use it everyday or even just during gatherings. You will enjoy its usefulness.

It looks nice and served the purpose but could have lasted longer.

There are few drawbacks for this electric water pot:
1) it takes too long for the water to boil
2) water temperature was not shown
3) there should be a red ball in the water level tube that indicates the water level up to.

Overall speaking, it is quite wealth it for the value that I paid in comparing to the Zujirushi brand that originally invented the hot water thermal pot.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nice, September 2, 2010

This is a simple machine that gets the job done. It is rather large but that's because it can hold so much water. A full container will provide me with 6 fills of my coffee press (8-10 cups). The only thing that I didn't like is that the machine gets really hot to the touch. I understand that it is stainless steel but it should be more insulated. It's not hot enough to burn your had, just to shock you a little if you graze it. I can easily put my hand to it and let it sit there so it's not a hazard. All in all, I do recommend this product for the price :)

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrible chemical stink, October 9, 2010

This could have a really good product, even though it doesn't have the features of the Zojirushi models.
The main attraction of this one, which is not clearly stated, is that the interior liner, where the water is, is stainless steel. All the Zojirushi units have non-stick interiors, and I am concerned about the toxicity of the non-stick. BTW, it's hard to find that out - I had to go to the Zojirushi web site and see their comparison of all models.

But this Sunpentown water heater, as it turns out, is even worse. It has a very strong offensive smell that smells toxic. Of course I don't know what it is that makes the smell, so I have no way of knowing just how toxic it is, but I definitely would not trust it. I ran several batches of water through it to see if the smell would go away, and it did not. It even turned the water brownish one time. There is no way I would trust this to heat water for my family.

Unfortunately, there do not appear to be ANY water heater dispensers that meet the basic non-toxic requirement of stainless steel or glass interior (i.e. NOT non-stick) and no apparent chemical smells.

Obviously I am returning this one.

2.0 out of 5 stars Dual dispension urn, January 21, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sunpentown SP-3619 Stainless-Steel 3-3/5-Liter Dual-Pump Hot-Water Dispensing Pot (Kitchen)
This is one of the very few dual dispensing hot urns. I was looking for something that is insulated and I can dispense without electricity. It works great. Takes 37W to keep warm and 700W to boil. I has the unit for 30 days non-stop use. The stainless steal lid started to rust on the inside around the screws. We replaced it for with the new one. However the replacement had the manual pump broken out of the box. Now we are waiting for the replacement of the replacement. I would still stick with this model, because it really worked well the first 30 days...

5.0 out of 5 stars Suits me, November 29, 2010

Most Sabbath urns are too big for my family's two cups of coffee on Saturday morning. This urn is smaller than most, has a water level indicator, has the hand pump dispensor, and keeps the water hot enough. All that I needed. I'm very happy with it.

I used it non-stop since the day I bought it and haven't had any problem with it. Compared to other brands, this one does not have as many features, but it's simple to use and cheaper. So if you just want a hot water pot, it's a good choice.

1.0 out of 5 stars Terrible chemical smell/taste which won't go away, September 10, 2011
This review is from: Sunpentown SP-3619 Stainless-Steel 3-3/5-Liter Dual-Pump Hot-Water Dispensing Pot (Kitchen)
We've had this for several months now. I keep hoping that with enough times emptying the water (we've never actually drank any of it) the acrid, horrible smell/taste would go away. I even resorted to trying vinegar and lemon juice. Nothing worked. Given that it's probably too late to return it, it looks like we'll have to contribute to landfill waste with this unless someone has a better suggestion.

2.0 out of 5 stars Corroded inner liner after 1 year of use, July 5, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sunpentown SP-3619 Stainless-Steel 3-3/5-Liter Dual-Pump Hot-Water Dispensing Pot (Kitchen)
This Sunpentown hot water dispenser works well as advertised but expects for the pot to only last for 1~2 years. Even with normal use and cleaning the inner liner will start to corrode after roughly a year of use (mine) - a definite health hazard.
