I initially gave this gauge a decent review as it seemed to perform reasonably well in my initial tests in a pot of water on the stove. In subsequent tests the gauge started to stick at around 135F. If you tapped the gauge it would start its way up to 165F and stick, then stick again around 180F. At full boil - around 212F - 214F (I live right beside the ocean - sea level), the gauge would consistently read around 195F. I used two separate thermometers (a digital kitchen probe thermometer and a glass candy/cooking oil thermometer) immersed in the water at the same time to verify. The thermometers were within a degree or two of each other and neither was touching the bottom of the pot.

I also tested the gauge with heated cooking oil and heated transmission fluid. Using my digital and cooking oil thermometers I got a reading of around 280F but gauge read under 180F in both the cooking oil and ATF. So, I thought at first that maybe it was just the gauge itself sticking and that the sending unit was ok, but I couldn't get anywhere near the thermometer measured temps on the gauge in oil. So, I guess the sender doesn't seem to accurately measure oil temps, at least for me.

Ultimately, I did installed the sender and gauge in the van to see how it would work. If it performed better, then great but I knew I would be installing one gauge or another so I had to run the wires anyway. I believe the reading to be considerably low. I'm certain that all my connections/grounds and voltage is good.

I appreciate that Amazon sent me replacement gauge quickly and free of charge, but the replacement was no better. It performed similarly. I'm returning both gauges.

This gauge was added to my Ford Bronco in addition to my OEM temp gauge for better viewing on the dash, and measures up to my OEM gauge, and was easily mounted and wired, very satisfied and a price you can't beat, thanks tom

This foreign-made gauge is cheaply made, prone to sticking and highly inaccurate. Sunpro should have better quality control on its products! The gauge frequently sticks as the engine warms. Tapping the gauge causes the needle to relocate almost randomly high or low making it unusable as an accurate real-time indication of the engine temperature. Eventually it is possible to get the needle to rest in about the correct location for what the temperature "ought" to be, but is it right? Who knows, because unless you tap it again, the needle does not change. Based on the engine thermostat, it should read about 185, but it is easy to get the needle to stop anywhere between about 150 to 230 degrees. If this particular gauge is representative, then do not waste your money. I just wish it was worth the effort to get a refund.

I hooked this up as a replacement for an old, tired gage in my boat. Works perfectly and looks sharp!

I needed a cheap transmission temp gauge in a hurry, and Amazon Prime had this little gem in stock. It's certainly not of the same quality as the AutoMeter gauges that cost twice as much, but it worked great right out of the box and has done exactly what I needed it to do. I've checked its accuracy against a much more expensive gauge and it's right on the money. Can't go wrong for the price.

Just a side note, the temp sender is a little too long to fit the pressure test port on a Ford 4R70W transmission, and required a run to Home Depot for a couple brass fittings. Problem solved for just a couple bucks worth of fittings.

Works good at a good price. I bought several for my boats . The gauge & senser works great. Installing the senser is everything. knowing how to drill & tap maybe nessary. I put sensers in my outboards/ cars but works in inboards too. Check for a plugs in cooling on block. Kit comes with several adapters for senser.Get sensor in flow of coolant. If you don't know what you are doing, HIRER HELP. Its worth it. Once your motor overheats its JUNK. Sensor & adapters are standard pipe theads not metric. Sensor is 1/8" pipe thread U.S.A. (N.P.T.) All are tapered threads. Not straight threads.

Works great, with no bouncing. Very accurate. In the dead of winter the oil temp when hwy cruising takes a while to get up to about 150F which is pretty much where it stays. In spring and summer the oil temp will read around 175-180F when cruising. ON a hot as hell day it will get up to about 185 -190F and on a hot as hell and humid day with stop and go traffic it will get as hot as 205 -210F. At those temps I try to go easy on the car. Car feels like it's getting its best performance when temps read anywhere between 150-180F.

I use this on my vw diesel to let me know when my WVO is up to temp. Seams accurate and works good. The temperature range is the best that I could find but I would like it to go lower in temperature as well. I think digital display gauges are the only type that I found that read lower temperatures as well.
