Colorful pictures and clever # sequence of a story in rhyme.,

I thoroughly enjoy reading this to kids grade1-3, particualrly those who are below grade level. This book offers me so many options for using it as a tool teach. I have asked the students I have read this with about the sequence of events they see happening throughout the story. I have asked them what the pattern of the text is( long I rhyming words). I have also used it to have the kids located what things on the page from the pictured object next to the numeral in the corner of the page ( like an "I Spy" book). Having the illustrations cover the entire page is very stimulating to me and keeps kids' attention searching the whole page for things. What a great way to keeps kids' attention focused while hearing a story or others' comments about the book!!
