About the Artist
Ms. Levinson creates classical/new age music inspired by the Grand Tetons and other "places." She likes to call herself a "place composer" as her passion is writing in sound what she visually sees and emotionally or spiritually feels. She has also written music for other "places" including Frank Lloyd Wright's Fallingwater, the Campanile bell tower in Venice, Italy and the Grand Canyon.
After years of writing "intellectual" music, Jann moved from New York City to Wyoming where she found her muse. A graduate of Bard College, Ms. Levinson has been a piano, voice and composition teacher in Jackson for over nine years. In addition to teaching, she has practiced music therapy at C Bar V Ranches and currently conducts a music appreciation program at Pumpkin Patch Preschool.
Product Description
Ms. Levinson has again captured the magnificent Grand Teton mountain range and surrounding areas in melodic and flowing images for solo piano. Her gentle touch and special use of silences, used so effectively in her 1997 release, Teton Seasons - Images for Solo Piano, are even more compelling in Sunrise, the new collection. The sounds and impressions of Sunrise are meant to inspire listeners to visit and remember this majestic part of our country.
