5.0 out of 5 stars This series keeps getting better!
I loved the first 2 books in the Beach House series, Beach House and Castles in the Sand, by Sally John. When Trish Perry continued the series with Beach Dreams, I was skeptical and ended up loving it. Sunset Beach is even better.

A compelling story of betrayal, revelation, and forgiveness, Sunset Beach is filled with surprises. Once again, Perry made me...

3.0 out of 5 stars Sunset Beach
Sunset Beach by Trish Perry is actually a great beach read. The chapters are short and inviting, and without even realizing it, you've devoured half the book.

This is a multi-character cast, which can sometimes be difficult to pull off. Trish Perry does it with style--even with twin sisters in the mix! My favorite character is Sonny Miller, a young woman who...

A compelling story of betrayal, revelation, and forgiveness, Sunset Beach is filled with surprises. Once again, Perry made me chuckle and in the midst of drama. Rich characters, a quirky beach house, and old friends Julian and Zeke make Sunset Beach a must read. Novel Journey and I give it a very high recommendation.

5.0 out of 5 stars Exposing Secrets, August 17, 2010
This review is from: Sunset Beach (The Beach House Series) (Paperback)
Trish Perry's novel, Sunset Beach, draws the reader into an enticing story about a young woman seeking to find some answers about her past. Sonny Miller secretly invites her Aunt Teresa to join her and her mother at a beach house for a week together. Sonny's mother and her sister, Teresa, have not seen each other for many years, and the reunion leads to some shocking surprises as secrets from the past are exposed. Fears, mistrust, romance, and God's grace working to bring a broken family back together make Sunset Beach a great read, offering touching moments, bits of humor and a good supply of hope.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sunset Beach is a must read!, December 1, 2009
This review is from: Sunset Beach (The Beach House Series) (Paperback)
I have wanted to read a Trish Perry book for a while, and I finally got the chance. Sunset Beach is a wonderful book with incredible scenery, powerful and gripping story lines, and characters that will stay with you long after you've finished the book.

I really enjoyed the dynamics between the different characters in this book. Each character provides something special to this wonderful group that Trish gathers together in this story. Sonny was my favorite, but I found that I could relate to them all in different ways.

Trish transports you off to this beautiful beach and eclectic beach house, making this book a wonderful and entertaining escape. I truly loved this book and highly recommend it. It's has a little bit of everything with drama, relationships, romance, and great Christian themes that we can all apply to our own lives. I look forward to reading more books from Trish Perry in the future.

This book was great. It pulled you in right from the first page. Excellent story line that made me want the book to NOT end because of the characters and the story line. It made me want to move to the beach after reading it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Full of sunshine smiles. Fabulous read!, October 24, 2009
This review is from: Sunset Beach (The Beach House Series) (Paperback)
Sunset Beach by Trish Perry is as delightful as an ocean breeze. If you want a nice relaxing read with fabulous characters, wonderful surprises, and a delicious plot, then you will love this book. I know I sure did. Trish never fails to delight her readers, and Sunset Beach is no exception.

Trish's heroine, Sonny Miller, wants answers to her life. Therefore, she invites her mother to Sunset Beach under the guise of wanting to spend time with her. But Sonny has ulterior motives--motives that her mother is not going to be pleased with. And yet, Sonny is willing to take that risk. What is so important to Sonny that she's willing to jeopardize alienating her mother over? And will her well-laid plans backfire on her?

Grig, aka Mr. Gorgeous, suddenly shows up at Sunset Beach. Why? Is he there because of Sonny, or someone else? If so, who? And why?

Teresa, Sonny's mother, has a few surprises of her own in store for her daughter. What are they? Can Sonny handle them all, or will Sonny crack under the strain of the past secrets?

Things start disappearing mysteriously. Who's taking these things, and why?

And who's this Zeke guy who keeps showing up at the most interesting times? Are his appearances by chance, or by Divine order? You decide.

Either way, if you want to know the answer to these questions and all the others, buy Sunset Beach by Trish Perry to find out. You won't be sorry.

5.0 out of 5 stars ATrip to The Beach House Always Inspires, September 8, 2009
This review is from: Sunset Beach (The Beach House Series) (Paperback)
Summer may be over, but in sunny California a beach vacation is always appropriate. Returning to the beach house in book three of The Beach House Series was equally as enjoyable as the previous two trips there. Sunset Beach introduces the reader to new characters and brings back familiar ones.

Sonny Miller is a beautiful young woman wanting her present to heal her past. The only gift she wanted for her graduation was a trip with her mother to the Beach House. Unknown to her mother, Sonny's Aunt Melanie was also invited. And, unknown toe Sonny, her mother's newest musical protégé has been invited. Within hours of their arrival the little beach house is filled with family and strangers. Is a week long enough to heal old wounds, open new chapters in lives, and rekindle a romance from one summer years ago?

Trish Perry has done it again. She takes characters the reader can relate to, intriguing stories, and intermingled lives, and creates a lovely story. Readers will laugh at the antics of the characters one page, be angered by them on another, and find their heartstrings tugged by stories of brokenness, healing, and love. Trish Perry is rapidly becoming one of my favorite contemporary romance authors. I highly recommend Sunset Beach. And, while you're at it, go ahead and by the other books in the series, The Beach House, Castles in the Sand, and Beach Dreams.

5.0 out of 5 stars I loved this book, August 19, 2009
This review is from: Sunset Beach (The Beach House Series) (Paperback)
Sonny Miller doesn't know anything about her family. She doesn't even know who her father was, or met her grandparents. Her mother, Teresa has refused to talk about them. Now, Sonny has graduated from college, and she wants a week at a San Diego beach house, just the two of them. Teresa reluctantly agrees. But she shows up with a guest, a young woman with a lovely voice who is making her debut with the Oakland Symphony Chorus. Sonny has a secret of her own. She has succeed in tracking down Teresa's sister, Melanie and invited her to spend the week with them. Teresa and Melanie haven't seen or spoken to each other in over twenty years.
Tension mounts, secrets are revealed, and lives are changed as the women struggle to work things out. This book made me want to call my own sisters and tell them how much I love them. I loved this book, and I'm looking for more from this very talented writer. Strongly recommended.

4.0 out of 5 stars Perfect Beach Read, August 7, 2009
By
This review is from: Sunset Beach (The Beach House Series) (Paperback)
Sunset Beach, an entry in the Beach House series, was a book that I savored. Sonny Miller tricks her mother into coming to the beach house for a week. The only thing her mother doesn't know is that the aunt Sonny has never met and that her mother is estranged from is coming, too. The Beach House works its magic as the three women, along with the protege Sonny's Mom brought, spend their week dancing ever closer to the truth.

I enjoyed this book and its exploration of friendship, family, forgiveness and love. Yes, for you romance lovers there's even a sweet love story or two. Trish packs a lot of story into this volume, and I enjoyed every page. It's the perfect read for those who like relational stories mixed with romance.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great summer read!, July 21, 2009
This review is from: Sunset Beach (The Beach House Series) (Paperback)
With a gorgeous cover like Sunset Beach has (as with all the books in this series), you'd think you're getting a light read about a simple vacation. Not so with this book. Though I wasn't expecting it, it happened--ministry! Right in the middle of the story. Lines I wish I'd had a highlighter on hand to underline. Nuggets of wisdom presented in such a non-preachy way you just ingest them. And laugh-out-loud moments, as well! Trish's sense of humor is so much fun!

I highly recommend this read for so many reasons. Grab your favorite lounge chair, find the nearest beach and enjoy. And if you don't live near a beach, don't worry. The book will take you there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Family Relationships and Romance, July 19, 2009
This review is from: Sunset Beach (The Beach House Series) (Paperback)
Trish Perry's new book is a delight! I read it on vacation in Southern California, so that made it even more special. Trish's characters were memorable and the family secrets and tangled relationships added depth to the story. The romance was sweet and satisfying, and the spiritual threads well-woven into the story. I've enjoyed all of Trish's books, and this one is right up there at the top of the list. Well-done! I will look forward to reading her next book.
