More About the Author
The literature provided is published by the United Church of God, an International Association, which has ministers and local congregations in the United States and many countries around the world. We trace our origins to the Church that Jesus founded in the early first century. We follow the same teachings, doctrines and practices established then. Our commission is to proclaim the gospel of the coming Kingdom of God to all the world as a witness and teach all nations to observe what Christ commanded (Matthew 24:14; 28:19, 20).
A Church led by God's Holy Spirit, joined and knit together by what every member supplies, with all doing their share and growing in love to fulfill God's great purpose for humanity to bring many children to glory (Ephesians 4:16; Hebrews 2:10).
The mission of the Church of God is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and the Kingdom of God in all the world, make disciples in all nations and care for those disciples.

The Armstrongite doctrinal position is that the Sabbath is a requirement for salvation, and that those who aren't observing the Saturday Sabbath are under the Mark of the Beast. For a sound, evangelical discussion of this topic, see Dale Ratzlaff's book "Sabbath in Christ". Dale is an ex Seventh Day Adventist pastor and his book covers the differences between the Old and New Covenant, and the applicability of the Sabbath, very well.
I was a member of an Armstrongite group for over ten years as a young Christian, so I am intimately familiar with their teachings. I am now attending an EFCA (Evangelical Free Churches of America) congregation.
Armstrongites should be considered a cult, and should be avoided. The two major reasons why they should be considered a cult are their “God family” doctrine and their “true church” or exclusivist position.
Their “God family” doctrine teaches that the redeemed become fully God in the resurrection, and will join the Godhead. In other words, there will be no difference between the redeemed, God the Father and Jesus Christ in terms of nature. They deny the personhood of the Holy Spirit.
Salvation, to them, is about proving themselves trustworthy to be given the full powers of Godhood. They are qualifying to rule as a God, ultimately over their own planet. They are Gods in embryonic form, to be "born again" at the resurrection. This view is very similar to Mormonism.
They deny the Christian doctrine of the Trinity, declaring it to be pagan.Read more ›

A good book on the practical side of Sabbath rest but, as I recall, lacks the history and symbolism of it.Published 16 months ago by Ella M. Rydzewski
