5.0 out of 5 stars A lovely blast from the past! Get it while you can!, June 6, 2003

What a lovely CD! Most various artists CDs feature a poorly mixed compilation of tunes that went top-10 and are way over-played on oldies radio stations. 'Sunshine Days' VOL. 4 and the entire 'Sunshine Days' series is truly a treasury of long-forgotten pop tunes. As I listened to this CD, I almost cried as the memories came flooding back. Many of the tunes featured in this volume and the entire series were pop hits that didn't even make it or barely made it into the top 40. That's what makes this series so rare and unique. You may not recognize many of the artists or titles, yet if you were alive in the 60s, you heard them on your ALL-TRANSISTOR pocket radios. Many of the tracks I hadn't heard in well-over thirty years! It was like stepping into a time capsule. Even if you weren't alive when these groovy pop tunes were popular, you'll love them! Oh, I almost forgot. The sound quality is very nice, having been produced by Bill Inglot. He was the sound engineer for the Rhino 'Have A Nice Day' series. He also produced the sound for the Varese Sarabande series 'Bubblegum Classics' which I highly recommend for the same reasons.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rarely heard gems, September 19, 2000

I originally bought this CD for just one song -- Mama Cass Elliot's "Make Your Own Kind Of Music" -- that I used to hear all the time on my Mom's kitchen radio when I was about eight. But this CD is full of many other wonderful songs that strike a familliar chord if I don't fully remember them. "I Can Make It With You" and "I'll Hold Out My Hand" somehow conjure up memories of family road trips down the Jersey Turnpike to my uncle's house in Willingboro. "Happy" makes me think of the little girl across the street I was in "love" with when I was seven years old, or more precisely how I felt at that time of my life. What I found most striking is that most of the great songs on this CD never even cracked the Billboard Top 30 when they were released! It is truly a blessing that we are finally able to appreciate them today.
