5.0 out of 5 stars Emotional and heart felt!
For me Josh is a must-read. He has never disappointed and this one is no exception.
Just a short one but so well written and emotions driven, with an interlying melancholic tone.
Very satisfied with the ending but it is the journey there which "up" this one for me. Just wish it is longer as these characters are so likable but don't we always wish this once we...

3.0 out of 5 stars Why so short?
Josh Lanyon is worlds apart from the average MM erotica writer, and he shows it again with this tale "In Sunshine and In Shadow". Here's my fave extract from this short story:

"He felt an unexpected sense of the merging past and the present...his own Irish roots and the adventuring spirit of his ancestors that had led them to strike out for a new land and...

5.0 out of 5 stars A loving journey, September 14, 2011
This review is from: In Sunshine and In Shadow (Kindle Edition)
Oh so sweet defines this short story set in the Emerald Isle. This is a poignant, romantic tale of two LAPD officers coming to grips with fear of commitment when it hurts to lose the one you love. Passionately crafted by the brilliant Josh Lanyon, we get a journey of discovery between two men who are friends, partners and, at one time, lovers that will touch your heart and leave you wanting more. But, that is always the way with a Lanyon story because his work is masterful and unforgettable.

Josh Lanyon is a very good writer. I have become a faithfull reader of his books and have enjoyed them. especialy the Adrien English mysteries, and this one is sweet and good but way too short and a little underdeveloped I knew what the ending would be (because of the genre) but I still didn't really get how that happened...

"He felt an unexpected sense of the merging past and the present...his own Irish roots and the adventuring spirit of his ancestors that had led them to strike out for a new land and leave this tough, enduring loveliness behind."

Isn't that beautiful? Not many MM writers can string words together so artistically. "In Sunshine and In Shadow" is the touching love story of Keir (who leaves to find himself) and Rick (who gets left behind to find himself), and it features an uber-romantic climax that should satisfy anybody with romance in their soul. My main problem with it is that it's too short at $2.99. Why, why, why is it so short?! There's leaving your fans wanting more, and there's just starving the reader.

This is a short, beautiful tale that brought tears to my eyes--twice! Josh Lanyon at his brief best.
