A friend loaned me two of these lights for one crop and after just a couple of months two rows of LEDs burned out. A month later another two rows burned out. Maybe just a fuse that I can replace but it still begs the question "Why did the fuse blow" (assuming that is the issue)

The price for this thing is crazy too. Look at apollo lights instead. I bought one for less than half the cost. It arrived with two burned out LEDs though. Terrible / non-existent QA process on LED lights it seems.

I then decided to just buy a couple 150 watt HPS lights for $79 a piece and they work great! Now I have to explain to my friend that about a third of the panel is now burned out.

I have learned my lesson regarding LED grow lights. In a few years maybe I will revisit the idea. For now I will just use HID and CFL. WAY cheaper and WAY more reliable.

Don't say you haven't been warned!

I have been using the GrowPanel Pro for a few years now and I can say it works very well. You can grow almost any plant underneath it. I've grown tomatoes, peppers, wheatgrass, tulips and even a banana tree underneath them. There is virtually no heat emitted and I use way less energy than when I ran my 600w HID lights. Please note that this seller (toolprice) is not an authorized reseller of Sunshine Systems lights and is not selling an authentic (real) GrowPanel Pro. I would check with the manufacturer first (Sunshine Systems) to see if you are buying an authentic light from Sunshine Systems.

The cost of these units recently came down to a level I felt acceptable. It's still a pricey device. When it arrived it had a dented corner. The sheet metel housing was the only thing damaged. There were no instructions or paperwork in the box, just the light. It has nice hanging wires included. The light works well but the cooling fans on top are loud. I will not know for a few months how well seedlings respond to it and will try and follow up.

This compares the strength of the Grow Panel Pro 300, Apache Tech 120 and the UFO 90 LED light arrays. The strength of the light in a plant's usable range is measured in PAR and tested at one foot using a quantum meter, which is explained here: [...]

Everyone is in a big hurry to go to LED lighting. Beware! Basic math tells you the product is being misrepresented. First off it says 1000 watts, yet in the specs it says 300 watts 110/120v. It also claims they run cool yet the 1st review states it has cooling fans, HUH? On the wattage issue Ohm's laws states I x E = P ; "I" being current, amps "E" being your line voltage ; "P" is your power or wattage. So using this PROVEN scientific formula transposed P/E = I, do the math 300w/110v = @ 2.7A. So the only thing you save this way is your power bill! This is also why there is a heat savings since less power is used, less heat generated. The claim that there is less heat per watt is hardly addressed, if this unit were "really" 1000 watt the heat would also be 3 - 3.5 times greater. So I ask, are you saving anything by spending $1000+???? In short NO, what you will get is braggin rights for having some LED light array that you paid a small fortune for. Here is a tip go online order yourself the LEDs get a soldering iron and make your own LED light array for less than $200, and I suspect that would include the price of the soldering iron and gear to do the job. What you are really looking for is a lighting system that uses less power, creates less heat AND provides MORE LUMENS! The internet is here folks do your research before moving from proven products to "claims" or greatness. My best tip, get things working simply, then slowly improve 1 part of the system at a time ensuring you get true results for your money spent. If its not broken ....don't fix it.
