Real life comparative experiment,
By
This review is from: Sunshine Systems LEDGP14 GlowPanel 14 Watt LED Grow Light (Lawn & Patio)
I am going to make this simple. I have this unit, a fixture with an Incandescent grow bulb matching the comparative rated wattage this unit states, and a CFL growth light matching the comparative wattage as well.
I have all three surrounding a set of four plants. In a kind of triangle format, meaning one third of the plants space covered by incandescent on third covered by CFL and one third by this unit all pretty much as symmetric as possible. All of the bulbs and fixtures are professional grade. All the plants lean to this light. No matter how I do it. I switch locations the plants follow this unit. I move this one to an odd position within a day the plants follow. So I took the other two out (CFL and incandescent) and replaced them with two more of these. And WOW! The growth was exponential. I will never go back to incandescent or CFL. I have four more of these type units, larger sizes, on order now.

This review is from: Sunshine Systems LEDGP14 GlowPanel 14 Watt LED Grow Light (Lawn & Patio)
For the past 10 years, I have been growing herbs, peppers and vegetables outside during the summer. Everything I plant is started by seed. I have made several attempts to bring different plants inside during the winter and none have made it. This winter, I was determined to be able to cook using fresh ingredients.
I spent dozens of hours researching grow lights, hydroponics etc. I have read several scientific studies as well as reviews on different indoor gardening methods. My research led me to this 14 watt LED Grow Panel. I would have loved to have bought a metal halide lamp, however, there are some overwhelming reasons I did not. My plants are next to a window so they can get some natural sunlight during the winter. I did not want an excessively bright light shining from my window. I have four 100 watt metal halide lights around my house and they illuminate my 2 acre lot like its daytime. I cannot imagine what one of these lights would do indoors, not to mention the heat and possible fire hazard. My neighbors would probably think we are getting abducted by aliens. I ordered the grow panel and received it in just a couple of days. My grow light shines on two Thai pepper plants in their own pots, a pot of sage and two large pots with various tropical house plants. The room stays around 60 degrees (not optimal for growing) and all of the plants are thriving. The light is on a timer and stays on only from 7pm to 7am. During most of our Winter days, the sun barely makes an appearance. I had a sun room in my last home and was able to grow most things indoors (during the summer only). The one thing that NEVER grew indoors was any kind of peppers. The sun room would be a consistent 85 degrees with full sunlight. The pepper plants would look great but no peppers. As soon as I brought the plants outside, boom...peppers. Today, in the middle of Winter, my two pepper plants are sprouting a ton of new peppers. We have plenty of fresh sage and the house plants are as green as ever. All of this in 60 degree temperature. You will not go wrong with this product. In regards to the two negative reviews about this product. Compact fluorescents or tube lights DO NOT produce results anywhere close to this product. As far as the comment about "the whole industry would use this product if it worked", C'mon. Where have you seen commercial green houses use any type of grow light? Green houses/nurseries are a seasonal business. Why would they sell plants in January? Its much cheaper to import produce from southern climates than to populate a green house with grow lights! Incidentally, I had a minor issue with my grow panel 35+ days after it was purchased. The vendor replied almost instantaneously and went out of their way to make it right. If you plan on doing any indoor gardening or starting your own seeds, you will love this product!

I expected this to be made cheaply for some reason. Maybe because I was unfamiliar with this. To my surprise, this panel is actually pretty well made. Although to some this may seem pricy and there are cheaper ones out there, this is the best for the money. Here's why-
- The LED's are larger than the typical size LED's. - The LED's are set well so they will not bend and everything feels very sturdy. - Standard plug, no wiring hassles - The light which this puts off will impress you for sure (it really does rival a 60w HPS) - The full spectrum gives off blue and red light for optimal growth stages and flowering stages - No heat output - 14w! Less power= less $ 11/15/10 - Still going strong for 12 hrs. a day. That's almost 7300 hours of operation so far since I purchased it.
