Book Description

"Hot, sexy and smart!" --Carly Phillips

Life's a Beach

Though his family owns the charming beachside town of Barefoot William, Aidan Cates is as down-to-earth as the locals. He's also practical to a fault and doesn't believe some psychic on the boardwalk can predict his future.

Jillie Mac is as free as an ocean breeze, so when the hot stranger and his date mistake her for a fortune teller, she's ready to have some fun. But one devastating secret told, one mistaken identity revealed, and numerous long summer nights later, it's Jillie and Aidan who discover that sometimes love comes with a simple twist of fate.

    From Booklist

While visiting a psychic fair, Jillie Mac sat down in an empty chair because she was tired, unaware that she’d accidentally taken the seat of a fortuneteller on break. Aidan Cates doesn’t believe anyone can tell him about his past and present, let alone his future, but his girlfriend insists that they get a reading from “Aries Martine.” Going along with the mistaken identity, Jillie gives a spot-on account of what she’d seen the night before—Aidan’s girlfriend with another man. Aidan ends his relationship with this duplicitous woman only to discover that Aries Martine is a fake, too. Unfortunately, Jillie is in town to begin a big project with Aidan, and now she’s not sure he’ll ever trust her. Angell’s (No Strings Attached, 2013) return to the charming Florida oceanfront town of Barefoot William makes for a delightful summer read. --Shelley Mosley

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent, Fun, Romantic and Hot April 29, 2014
    By Holly
I read "No Sunshine When She's Gone" in one night because I just couldn't put it down. I love Aidan and Jilly Mac from their first meeting. The psychic reading was a hoot and his chase down of her laid the foundation for a fun and fantastic read. The appearances of some of my favorite Rogues just added to the delight of the story. Kate Angell is a great story teller and it is so easy to get caught up and lost in one of her books. I want to find a Barefoot William of my own to live in.

    5.0 out of 5 stars A perfect summer read. May 7, 2014
    By Judy
No Sunshine When She's Gone by Kate Angell takes us back to the fun and quirky town of Barefoot William.

Aidan Cates loves the fun and breezy world of his hometown. Aidan is a straight shooter and has little use for secrets. When a psychic on the boardwalk sabotages his current relationship he is none to happy especially after he finds out the woman was not even part of the event.

Jillie Mac is the polar opposite of the man she tricks into believing she is a psychic. She was only having some much needed fun before she gets to work on being the liaison for the Richmond Rogues new spring training facility. Since Aidan is the contractor for this facility Jillie and Aidan will be working closely.

What started out as a case of mistaken identity turns into a once in a lifetime romance. Aidan is strong and steady so different then anything Jillie has had in her life. Will she be able to put her faith in Aidan and let this relationship grow some roots?

The secondary romance between Jillie's assistant Carrie and Aidan's best friend Mike is just as delightful as the primary romance.

No Sunshine When She's Gone is a like a warm summer day. Plenty of sunshine to brighten any ones day. The chemistry between Jillie and Aidan sends off sparks even from the beginning when they didn't really know each other. Watching it grow and change is a joy. Looking forward to the next book in this wonderful series.

5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Read!! April 30, 2014
    By tfail
    Format:Kindle Edition
This is the first book that I have read by Kate Angell and needless to say I will be going back to read the first two books in the Barefoot William series.

Aiden Cate is a very caring, down-to-earth man. He first meets Jillian when she is mistaken for a fortune teller and Aiden automatically senses something about her and is drawn to her for some reason. Jillian’s information that she gives Aiden and Lila (his girlfriend at the time) catches him off guard, but the information in true and eye-opening for him.

Jillian has had a rough life and works very hard for what she has and don’t spend a lot of money or time on herself. Once she does the reading she knows that she is in trouble, because she felt the draw to Aiden too. Although Aiden tells her over and over again how he feels, she is afraid to take a chance and afraid of her feelings for him.

I loved their story.. Loved Sadie and Olive (she kept me laughing every time she would talk) and then we have Carrie and Mike. I would have like to have seen each of these couples have their own story, because I thought that we saw more of Carrie/Mike’s relationship than we did Jillian/Aiden, but their stores were both wonderful.

Can’t wait to see what comes next.

    5.0 out of 5 stars Incredible!! May 7, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition
What a great book!! So happy to travel back to Barefoot William. I adore the easy flowing writing style of Kate Angell and the way she ties her two series together is brilliant. All the secondary character are fun and add great depth to her storytelling. This is one that should be at the top of any summer reading list.

5.0 out of 5 stars KATE ANGELL SCORES ANOTHER HOMERUN! June 20, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Kate Angell's Barefoot novels: No Tan Lines, No Strings Attached, and now No Sunshine When She's Gone just keep getting better. If you are able to read them in order, by all means do. The romances in this latest book are just lovely. The Richmond Rogues (from Kate's baseball novels) make an appearance in this book because the team is setting up spring training in Barefoot William. The main romance is between Jillie Mac and Aidan Cotes. Jillie happens to be the sister of "Pshcho" MacMillen, one of my all time favorite Rogues. Jillie has had a rough life and is just now finding her place in the world. Aidan knows almost at once that her place is with him. How he convinces Jillie of this is their story. You will love both of them, and Aiden's sweet as anything elderly dog will steal your heart. The secondary romance between Jillie's friend Carrie and Aiden's friend Mike could be a book by itself. As always with her novels you get two for the price of one. I almost always enjoy these secondary affairs as much as the primary one. There are laughs, tears, misunderstanding, and steamy love in this new book. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did and hope it won't be too long before I'll be enjoying another Barefoot novel. There are more characters I'd love to see stories about and hope some of the Rogues will be involved too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Must have Beach Read May 2, 2014
    Format:Kindle Edition
No Sunshine When She's Gone by Kate Angell is a must summer time read. I am so glad that I found the series with this book. Ms. Angell writes so that you swear that you hear the ocean waves, and smell the salty air. Aiden and psychic, Jilly are so delightful that you can't help but get hooked into their story. If that is not enough, there are several sideline stories heating up too. Loved it, now I'm going back for the earlier books in the series. My beach reads are ready, now I just need the Florida coast. Thank you, Kate Angell.

I found the character perspective jumpy and disconnected with gaps left. The ending left me feeling like the author suddenly remembered she had something better to do.
