Great job,

I like the album very much. It's original and very good. Each song is diferent, but they are put in a common context. The band has his own sound. Michael Kiske does his best with the voice, with his great high tones of always, but with very nice medium tones also. The other musicians do a great job too.I recommend the album to everybody, enjoy it!I've seen two bad reviews of the record, but their only argue have been that "this is not power-metal music". I think this is not a real argue for people with open mind, I like power-metal but fortunately there are more kinds of music, in this case, Supared is a very original band which is very dificult to clasified, maybe melodic rock whith some metal touchs, with some pop..., for me is only good music.

holy hell, Kiske continues to just turn his back on the fans and music that made him famous. this is pathetic....Kiske do a Helloween reunion, or a metal cd befoe you ruin your career ever further if thats possible.

SupaRed - good music for everyone,
By A Customer

Excellent is not the exact word. There is too much to find there to describe it in short words. The shortest would be - simply great fresh music. Mostly it's hard rock, but not only so. It's oustide any rigid style borders and that's one of its good sides! You can hear there a lot of influences - a bit of metal, a bit of pop, a bit of country, some hints of classic, a little glimpse of punk and more... It's various. Some songs can get you immediately and you'll be singing along soon after they start the first time, some songs are really deep and you will enjoy them again and again discovering something new every time. Some songs can touch deeply with a strong melody and magic vocals. Not everyone's taste will be 100% satisfied of course. It's OK, people are different. But I am sure it's worth a try for a great many of folks - and I hope most of them will love it as much as I do. But if you won't like it - let your family listen, let your friends listen - and you'll see how it works! One thing is perfectly clear - this album is a LOT better than most of the stuff you see around selling in great quantities. It's almost too good to be in existence, hehe. Some of the songs I can personally recommend as the best ones are Hey, Hackneyed, Freak-Away and Turn It. But to everyone his own. Those people with whom I talked about the album often had different preferences. So my opinion is that everyone can find something great in this music. :-)

Underappreciated Genius,
By Julian R Kelley (Oakland, TN United States) - See all my reviews

Michael Kiske spent his youth as a heavy metal front man for Helloween, bringing with him a vocal power and charisma far beyond his years.Since departing from the band in 1993, he's quietly put out a couple of solo records that displayed a songwriting prowress only hinted at previously. Now, we have SupaRed, his new band project. His sonwriting has matured, and his vocals have tamed a bit, but he continues to construct some of the best, most intelligent AOR around. sadly, it falls mostly upon deaf ears. From the opening track, "Reconsider", to the closing "Turn it" (the only track not written by Kiske), you'll find a diverse, yet somehow cohesive landscape of songs that beats anything on FM radio these days. And unfortunately, few will ever hear it. Much of Kiske's own fan base is rejecting the album, which is too bad.It really is alot of fun.Long story short, if you're looking for power metal, try something else. However, if you just want to give a good record a fair shot, this might be for you.

Kiske, not Helloween,

Fans of Helloween should not expect to hear Michael Kiske doing his Geoff Tate impersonation on his own projects. Kiske has a great voice and it is refreshing to hear him using in his own style. I feel this is one of his stronger efforts away from Helloween.

Great - Uplifting but not better than the 2 previous albums,

Note: Power metal fans beware; there is nothing interesting for you here except for Michael Kiske's voice. Although I have to admit that I don't understand why some people expect every album that Michael Kiske puts out to be a heavy/power metal record (he left Helloween in 1993!)
SupaRed is the latest album by Kiske, who has put together a talented band and has also given it a name, thus emphasising that this is not a solo album (like the previous 2) but a band effort. A long album (14 tracks) with very interesting and diverse songwritting. The tracks don't follow a certain formula, each one has it's own identity, thus giving the album a wide variety of musical genres. Half of the songs follow a somehow progressive rock and at sometimes hard rock (metal) sound with heavy guitars and strong vocals. The other half of the songs are emotional ballads, some acoustic and some more powerful. Mainstream ideas can be found throughout the record but these don't detract from the overall experience as they are fused together perfectly with rock and progressive ideas. From the harder rock tracks four that stand out are `Boilingpoints of No Reburn', `Hey', `Turn It' and `Let's Be Heroes', which is the catchiest song out of the hole record IMO. The ballads are well written as well and three of which are overflowing with emotion and vocal supremacy are `Ride On', `That's Why' and `Freak-Away'. All songs are played wonderfully, the guitars are perfect throughout the album and Michael Kiskes vocals are incredible, as always, varying constantly and setting up the mood and atmosphere of each song perfectly. This man is unbelievable he is 35 years old and his vocals in low-range, mid-range and high-range are still mind-blowing! Another great album that was unfortunately bashed by METAL fans (because it wasn't a metal record but was put out by a metal label) and strangely loved by most critics. The only reason that I gave SupaRed three stars is because I miss some of the classical influenced and orchestral arrangements found on Instant Clarity and especially R.T.S. Give SupaRed a try after 2-3 listens it might even blow you away

My heart is breaking,

I have loved Kiske's vocals since Keeper Part 1. In fact, he was my favorite metal singer. I love his guest appearances on Gamma Ray's Land of the Free and Masterplan's Heroes. Instant Clarity had a couple of good songs on it and that was followed by the horrendous Readiness to Sacrifice. Unfortunately, this follows in the wake of R.T.S. and is almost as bad.For some reason, when Michael sings metal his voice is awesome, but when he sings rock his voice sounds whiny and annoying. I found the vocals on this album terribly irritating, almost out of tune, and practically unlistenable. Not that I'm suggesting that Michael go back to metal - he's way beyond that - but it seems he's lost his ability to write a good tune (actually he lost that somewhere before R.T.S.). There is nothing memorable on this album. A couple of the better songs are Let's Be Heroes, Boiling Point of No Return, and Turn It. He Pretends makes me want to vomit. You can skip this one.

Simply Awesome!,
By Kevin Blankenship (Southern California, USA) - See all my reviews

Michael Kiske is truly one of the best vocalists of any genre of rock/hard rock/metal. His past history/recordings with Helloween are well known. SupaRed is not Helloween. SupaRed has allowed Kiske the freedom to explore new musical territory. I can't really compare it to any of his solo albums either. Standing on it's own merit, SupaRed is a great band that created an awesome CD. I loved each of the songs and cannot say anything bad about the album. Please listen to it and judge it for what it is, not for a comparison to what Kiske has done in the past.

WONDERFUL CD !,

well, to make it short: Michael Kiske's SupaRed is one of the very best CDs I have listened to so far. Michi once again proofed what excellent songwriter and person he is and now is surrounded by three excellent musicians, and all of them together recorded that fantastic CD which definitely is a shining jewel of pure and beautiful rock music. Thanx to Michael's wide talent, he is not sticking to his past, but developping into another direction which fits his voice much better in my opinion. Please everybody, do not expect any power metal album as Kiske found his new way to rock. ...

When i heard this cd i tought that the great Michael Kiske was going to make a great come back to the Heavy Metal bussines, area that made him famous and worshiped by many, but instead I belived that I was listening to a Michael Jackson cd. Kiske has a great voice and many fans all over the world, so why does'nt he make us happy and make a metal record? Metal fans, this is not what you are looking for!!!!!!!!!!!!!
