Cheap and accurate thermometer. It fits easily into HVAC registers to give a reading of the air output. I've also used it in a car out of curiosity of how cold my A/C was. Lastly, when not in use for anything else it sits in a bottle of water in my fridge to give an idea of actual item's temperature. Occasionally you will get a power outage and this is the best way I've found to give an accurate reading. I took an empty water bottle, drilled a small hole in the cap, and placed this in the bottle through the freshly drilled hole.

I use this to measure the temperature of the air coming out of my home made solar panel made from soda cans. It works well!

I've had one of these for years, and the readings are consistent and repeatable every time. Now I've bought two more so I could monitor three points at once in my new refrigerator while I'm adjusting the temps. As a test, after that I lined them all up together in the fridge, then in the freezer, then at room temp, and they all read the same in each case. About as good quality as you'll ever find for something this inexpensive.

I don't know why I had originally chosen to purchase this type of thermometer for my soap making, but I did and it worked. I still ended up buying a different type for my soap making though, because I wanted to more precise and fast way to meter my thermos.

Great little something extra for the newer cook.....will let them understand when the chicken is cooked enought...here is a trick...theres a nut like deal under the scale..set unit probe only into a glass of ice water swirill it around set it get used to the cold icy water......now if needed turn that little nut like deal while you hold the scale point or face of the unit...adjust till it reads 32*........then you know the unit is accurate.... I got 4 of these to give to budding cooks in my family.....

Hard to read the scale due to my age and the small size.

I don't know if the absolute calibration is accurate, but the relative calibration is excellent within a wide range! I purchased 6 of these and all six show the same temperature in an AC floor register at 55F and 105F in a glass of hot water. I purchased one that looks just like these 10 years ago for 5 times the cost. Same mfg as far as I can tell. Well made. Pocket clip is the same.
