Lost Treasure Now Found,
By "kittyelectra57" (Richmond Hill, Queens, NYC) - See all my reviews

I recently saw Fishbone in NY and was taken by the "new" members, guitarist Spacey T and drummer John Steward. Suprisingly I had heard Spacey T's work before and was'nt aware. I went looking for some of John Steward's old work and Voila! I'm sad I missed him with Super 8, but am so glad he's with Fishbone now. Bronx Style Bob's voice puts me in mind of Lenny but with a lot more. This band was very tight, it's a shame they couldnt go on to do more. A definate gem in my CD collection.

Bronx style bob is a very good soul singer. I can't believe how they mix the rock soul and funk so well. And the production on this album is very good. This is an album to own!

An unknown wonder,
By Robby Malk (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews

I bought this super 8 album six and a half years ago and it is still one of my all time favorites. The album is filled with a rough yet refined sound and strong lyrics. It is one of those albums you can easily listen to all the way through again and again. I have to believe if the band did not split up shortly after the release of this album, they would have been huge. If you want a great album that none of your friends are going to likely have, that will make them think you have a great skill at finding amazing unknown talent - this is the album to buy and show them. Enjoy it!

This group was a real find. The more I listened to it the better it became. They rock hard and they also display a lot of soul in their music. The singer has an excellent voice and the rythm section is fantastic. The songwriting is intelligent and introspective. Their sound ranges from hard rock to soul to alternative to funk and they mesh it all together seamlessly. Too bad they're not together anymore, they displayed so much talent on this CD. If you like rock and soul music mixed together in one band, this is a good one to get.

I would give this 6 stars if I could. This is simply one of my all time favorite CD's. Everyone I have turned on to this disc just love it. Most of them have gotten there friends into it and so forth.... For anyone looking for more of these guy's Bronx Style Bob has a solo disc that preceeded this group effort. The disc is called Grandma's Ghost. It's hard to find but well worth the search. He also does guest vocals on Everlast's latest CD (one song). Does anyone know what happened to these guy's? Three years and no follow up CD? I hope these guy's are still together. If you don't have this disc buy it TODAY! You'll love the whole thing.

I saw Super 8 open for Fishbone at a place called The Chance in Poughkeepsie NY. A venue that is quite a distance from my usual NYC haunts. I almost passed on the show because of the distance, but in hindsight, I'm glad I didn't. I knew Fishbone would be great, but I expected some dusty musty grudge band wagon opening act. Nothing could have been further from the truth. These guys are GOOD. A true oasis in the stark arrid dessert of same ol' same ol'. I can't remember being so enthused about new talent since Lenny Kravitz first album. This album is well worth getting. You will find yourself coming back to it over and over. In fact, I can see myself revisiting this one 10 or 20 years from now. Oh. One more thing I almost forgot. The singer ... CAN SING! For an effin change.

The most underrated album in the world today.,

It's been a long time since I've heard anyone other than whine-prone indie rock greasers pour so much soul into so many songs. Under the lyrical pilotship of Bronx Style Bob, Super 8 kicks you in the tail repeatedly with a kind of "Get your butt up and move!" rock sensibility and stinging guitar work on tunes like "Nothing" and "Mountain." Buy this album, listen to it as loud as your stereo will go, and I dare you to sit still.

I saw this band when I was about 22 (I'm 37 now) in a small bar in Terre Haute, Indiana and I've been a fan ever since. My CD was lost/stolen/etc. years ago and I've always wanted to get another copy but until I found it on amazon.com, I always came up short. I'm a big fan of all types of music and I can honestly say that this CD is in my top ten. Great songs, great writing and they put on a helluva show, too. So happy I found this CD after years of singing these songs to myself (sad, I know). Very cool. \m/
