Bad Design,

One of these arrived with dead batteries. I didn't mind buying new batteries but the process of installing them is difficult. I spent about 45 minutes using a chisel, screwdriver and pliers to get the unit apart. In the process I may have disturbed the seal (no way to avoid doing this though) and they worked for awhile but then apparently developed a moisture problem. The bottom, which is designed to fit in the ground, has a rubber "gasket," about the size of nickel, which is used to turn the unit on and off. That is another entry point for water. Overall, just not a good design or implementation.
