The best Contra game,
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Super C (Video Game)
Super C is one of the best(if not the best) Contra games. You play as a commando blasting through stages, collecting all kinds of weapon powerups. The Spreader(S)weapon is always the best. This game is very fun. I can make it through about 3 or 4 levels without losing a life(1 hit kills you). The levels are all very big and they are full of enemies. The best part about this game has got to be the bosses. They were all big and hard(but most of them can be killed easily with the spreader). Overall, this is a fun game that has a good life span. Reccomended!

If it moves, shoots, jumps, flies, bounces, floats, or even looks at you wrong, shoot the ever-living crap out of it! That is your mission in Super C, the sequel to the highly successful NES classic Contra. In Super C, an alien race has invaded a base in South America and it's up to Bill and Lance to stop them. That's it. Hey, if you're looking for a deep story or interesting characters, you need to look elsewhere. This game is all about one thing: shooting stuff.
Your goal is to wipe out everything onscreen with an infinite supply of ammo and some truly excellent weapons powerups. While you don't get to choose which powerup you get, if you play it enough you can memorize where and when to get each powerup. You've got the fire gun, machine gun, and of course the spread gun (or spray gun). There's also a barrier sheild powerup and a bomb powerup, that kills everything onscreen. With these weapons you can annihilate everything to you hearts content. You can also jump and fire in 9 different directions, and trust me, you're gonna need to! The game is hard too. One hit = death and you only have 3 lives. The first 4 levels are pretty easy, but the later ones, specifically Level 7, are a real challenge. Be prepared to scream at the TV and throw your NES controller because this game will try your patience. Well I think I've said enough. All in all, a great game that doesn't require much thinking, but is endlessly replayable and utterly satisfying.

Really Want to Test How Good a Gamer You Are?,

Then you need to pick up Super C, because of all the Contra games, I still find this to be the hardest of the lot. However, Super C is a game where you can't wimp out. Much like the first Contra, it takes practice to learn. However, as far as advancing the series goes, Super C does it in the way a game ought to do it. It keeps the same basic gameplay, but it throws in new enemies, harder levels and different level designs. Simply put, mastering the first Contra doesn't give you an edge in Super C.
There are eight levels in the game, and it works exactly as the first Contra did in this respect. You will go through, running and gunning through tons of enemies. You'll find many weapons for you to use. They all come from the previous Contra game. You'll find a machine gun, flame thrower (there are two types this time), laser and the Spread Gun. Again, as any Contra veteran can tell you, the Spread Gun is perhaps the best weapon you could hope to get. Strong, and can hit just about anything. What makes Super C much harder than the first Contra game is simply that there is more stuff that comes at you. More enemies, and more gun shots to avoid. Combine that with the fact that the Classic Konami code DOES NOT work with this game. One hit, you're dead, and you've only got two lives to start with. You earn more by scoring lots of points, but with bosses that are much more difficult in scope and enemies that take a lot more time to predict, Super C will have you dying of frustration (perhaps even literally). Super C does two player co-op exactly as the first one did it. Again, there are few games that do two player co-op better than the Contra series. Super C is no exception. The music, while not better than the first Contra, is still fantastic. Graphic wise it's also better than the first Contra. It uses the same sprites but the environments are far more detailed. Allowing for more populated levels. Old school gaming almost doesn't get any better.

This game was really hard. SUPER C? Try to Super Difficult! The transition from the original CONTRA was just way too hard. Granted yes, the original CONTRA was a bit easier (trust me I know because I beat it within a few days). But SUPER C, let's face it this was a tough game and a hard transition at first.I will admit, this is a good game if you're looking for a much more difficult, harder edge kind of game. This game really made you work for it (like how CASTLEVANIA did). SO if you're looking for a tough game, check out SUPER C. If you're looking for a more fun game that you win at, check out the original CONTRA, DOUBLE DRAGON and of course the MARIO series.

This game is very hard at first. However, if you go online you can find a code that gives you 10 lives to start with instead of three. But after a while it is not needed to have 10 lives. You get so sucked into the game and it is so much fun. I recommend finding a friend to play with because, then you both create strategies and it isn't as frustrating when you lose because you can laugh it off. Plus having an extra gun at hand is fun. However, it does have it's disadvantages, sometimes you can kill the other player by going to high up on the screen. Sometimes the extra player doesn't run fast enough so you can't advance. So both of you need to become to in tune with the game. It's so much fun. I wouldn't be able to write such a big review if it was not such a fun game. Me and my friend played it and next thing we knew, we were up till 4 AM... but we didn't even care once we found that out. We kept playing till we beat it using only 3 lives.

The game was the end all be all game for the bloodthirsty child or even adult out there. it had every aspect of a shooter in it, and even exploits that only a true player could find out. it was a good balance of regular contra and their new added things. Despite the fact that area 2 and 4 have now become birds-eyed view levels, it still can compete with the original game when it came to fun and difficulty. Super C is a great game for the adult who wants to relive their childhood, or for the kid who wants to play something "retro" or non 3-d type game

Super C came out with guns blazing!,

The original Contra and Super C arcade games drew big crowds because of the crazy action, nice graphics and 2 player co op. Contra for the NES was a great port that extended the game and Super C is no different. Konami hit it out of the park again with the game as it was released on the NES in 1990. Super C came out with guns blazing and Contra fans responded.Super C (shortened from Super Contra) continued not too long ago from Contra and the aliens returned to Earth with a vengeance. They took over the military so it's up to you to run through eight stages, shooting possessed army soldiers, aliens and boss creatures. Choose from the same two guys from the first game. The weapons from the first game return but now with some changes: the flame weapon was able to be shot out into fireballs that spread out when it hit enemies and the ground, the laser weapon was shorter but thicker and the spread weapon had bigger bullets. You get three lives; lose them all and you can use three continues. Once you were out of continues, the game was over. Another player was able to join in at any time. The PROS: Just like Contra, Super C was an extended version of the arcade port. The arcade game had 5 stages; the NES added 3 stages for a total of 8 stages. Konami did a nice job with handling the graphics, sound effects and overall presentation as it looked great. The music in Super C was just as good as Contra and in some cases was more memorable. The controls were flawless and the 2 player co op returns doubling the amount of fun 2 players had back then. There was a different code to enter to get ten lives from the get go in case the game kicked your ass early on. The CONS: The only thing that was a knock on the game is that it is not as intense as Contra. Many players were able to beat Super C quickly compared to the previous game. I, myself, beat the game in four days and I have yet to beat Contra without using the thirty man code. Super C was more accessible than Contra in that it wasn't as hard and as a sequel, fans looked forward to playing it. It did not disappoint and would only convince Konami to keep making them. It's hard to get a brand new copy of the game so you can get it used, buy Contra 4 for the Nintendo DS as both NES games are unlock-able extras or you can download Super C from the Virtual Console service for the Wii for 800 points (US $8.00.)

Contra was such a great game in arcades. Heck, it got ported to NES. The NES version gained more popularity, however. Heck again! It has a sequel!
Super C is what you expect from the Contra series. You can do everything that you can do in the original Contra. Shoot in all directions, with several different power-ups to find, and bad guys to shoot the ever-loving heck out of! It seems like a direct sequel, but who would ever want to mess with the already perfect Contra formula? The music, though, is more fantastic than the first game's music! Not only does it have really cool beats and stuff, but there's also a kind of beat that you can't hear from any other NES game! The only problem is that it's too hard. The first Contra was hard, but then there was the Contra Code. It gave you 30 lives. The Contra Code only unlocks a sound test in this game. Not bad, but not good when you're struggling through a level.

If you run outside and try to dodge the rain it would be an easier task than beating Super C. If you thought Contra had stupid crazy gay amounts of enemies thrown at you from all angles you ain't see nothing until you get owned in Super Cheese. The fun factor is 5/5 but I gave the overall rating 3/5 due to the insane difficulty level and having to beat the game on hard to get a lame ending which is stupid. Lets put the Super Cheese makers at gunpoint and tell them to pass Super C on hard with one credit or they die becasue we fans want to see the damn ending. To Actually be able to play for more than 10 seconds without getting gayed. How come pits, fire, ceilings falling, falling rocks, enemy fire etc only effects the player and the million enemies on the screen at all times don't get hit??
