For Crafters with a Sense of Fun and Style,
By California Crafter (San Francisco, CA United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Super Crafty: Over 75 Amazing How-to Projects! (Paperback)
Favorite parts of this book were the sweater clips, forget-me-not shrine, the four-project sweater, and the *entire* vinyl section. Many of these ideas involve repurposed or recycled materials, which is great for those of us tired of crafts that require Martha Stewart Living sized budgets. And the few sections that didn't apply to me or weren't my style (like the few pages for pets - little friends aren't allowed in my apartment!) I could easily see using for gifts. Almost everything can be adapted for children.
Great diagrams, schematics, as well as crafty basics. This book is for crafters who like to experiment and have fun with their work while also making something they can be proud of and use.

One of the BEST crafty books of 2005!,

I have a huge obsession with craft books. I have two walls full of them! By far, this is one of the best books that came out in 2005. Yes, it has extremely innovative and spirited projects, useful tips and such, but what makes it so appealing is that it has so much personality. If you are among the new wave of crafters who want to have fun with your projects, this is a must-have book! Congrats to PSC for such great work!!

Super Crafty and Super Fun,
By Geek Crafter (Manchester, UK) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Super Crafty: Over 75 Amazing How-to Projects! (Paperback)
I consider myself an enthusuastic but inexpert crafter. I like fast projects because I'm an instant gratification kinda gal. This book is exactly what I've been looking for.
I adore this book, and so do my crafty cohorts. With 75 ideas, there is something for everybody no matter how long they have been crafting. We're planning a Craft-ernoon to make some of the projects, but we can't decide which one, because they are all so cool. There are also plenty of projects that I can use with the Guide group I work with, because so many of the projects use recycled items that are cheap and easy for anybody to get hold of. My family have also enthused over which projects they like and "placed orderers" for birthday and Christmas. I just hope I can deliver in the same way the PDX Supercrafty have !

Something for everyone!,

This review is from: Super Crafty: Over 75 Amazing How-to Projects! (Paperback)
I received this book as a Christmas gift and absolutely love it! The projects are great for beginners, but can also be tweaked to fit the skill level of more advanced crafters. I found the jewelry making section extremely helpful. Because there are so many different projects represented in this book, there's truly a little something for everyone. Buy it!

This book is PACKED with projects!,
By Julie Jackson "Subversive Cross Stitch" (Dallas, TX) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Super Crafty: Over 75 Amazing How-to Projects! (Paperback)
I love this book, it's as fun on the inside as it looks on the outside. Lots and lots of unusual projects, including several that utilize an old favorite from childhood - Shrinky Dinks (although maybe they don't call them that anymore?)! My favorite projects are definitely the Cowgirl steering wheel cover (I'm working on that one today) and the Found Object wrapping ideas. And a whole section on crafty stuff for pets (who else would think of leg warmers for dogs? - so great!) Thanks for all the fun ideas, gals!

My new favorite craft book!,

The best thing about this book is not just that it's packed with projects (which it is), but that it was obviously put together by crafters who understand the needs of other crafters - it's so well-written, the instructions are clear, it's full of great images and illustrations. And it's giving me tons of ideas, for things that I've never thought about trying to make before.

Inspirational, Informative, and Empowering!,

This review is from: Super Crafty: Over 75 Amazing How-to Projects! (Paperback)
My first crafty book as a child consisted of projects centering around sticking toothpicks in potatoes or the more typical "10 variations on a sock puppet."
And, although I loved, and still do love, mixing egg whites with food coloring for cookie decorating, often, I longed for a more modern crafty guide. Super Crafty: Over 75 Amazing How-to Projects is just that sorta book I had been waiting for. From sewing with vinyl to designing wall collages and creating fabric jewelry, this book has it all. In fact, after an hour of reading Super Crafty, I was completely engaged with my inner crafty kid-- her name is Sasha, she enjoys ballet, hot-pink legwarmers and dancing to Kenny Loggins. I couldn't believe it. I was hooked. The best of the bestest about this book is that it's so very personable and childlike, especially the manifestos which reminded me of what I wanted to be when I grew up-- it was an astronaut who invented neat machines like the dad in Gremlins. I couldn't believe it. How fantastic. You get a strong sense that crafting is not just a business venture for these ladies, but it's a real way of life, a bond that they have with one another and with themselves. It's a form of expression, therapy, and a great way to pass the time with friends on a saturday night. And for us, it's a wonderful way to rediscover the adult we always imagined we'd be as a child. How double great is that?

This is one of the most fun craft books I've bought in years. The projects are easy to make and the instructions are well written and understandable. Lots of cute projects for all ages and skill levels. I think my favorite part is the Craft Manifesto at the beginning. I liked reading about how each author got into crafting, what their favorite materials are and also that other people make crafty goofs too!
Well done!

a must-have for the crafty person's bookshelf,
By shawnee monkey (left coast, usa) - See all my reviews

the book is very well-written and has easy-to-follow directions. for most of the projects, one only needs basic skills, a short amount of time and easily-found, inexpensive supplies (such as felt, socks, thrifted fabrics, game pieces). and there's such a wide variety of projects that it's not hard to find more than a few to make. the authors' narratives and the anecdotes that introduce each project give the book a very warm, friendly feel.

Gifts With That Personal Touch,
This review is from: Super Crafty: Over 75 Amazing How-to Projects! (Paperback)
This is a well-written, colorfully illustrated book that shows you, in easy-to-follow steps, how to make handmade gifts, create a card for them, and even wrap them with your own distinctive touch. You can make gifts for both people and pets. My cat's Christmas will now never be the same. If you really get into hand-made crafts, you'll find plenty of tips on how to start your own business. The book itself would make a great gift. Kudos to the authors.
