Not just an old school game anymore...,

Who doesn't remember dodge ball? That simple school game you threw a ball at a another player and hoped that he/she didn't catch it. Now that same old fun is transported from the school yard to the Game Boy Advance.First of all, a good place to start is the graphics. In one word: Amazing!. The game is bright and colorful and all the characters are very cool looking. Second, the soundtrack is pretty catchy too. Each level or team has it's own little song and everything. Gameplay is awsome with the controls being amazingly responsive and the availability of Super Throws is great. Super Throws are special throws where the player hurls the dodge ball at a hi speed and in different ways. Examples are the Mach Throw (the player hurls the ball at an amazingly hi speed.) The Pause Shot (The player throws the ball which pauses in mid air before speeding toward the selected target.) And 48 more! Character selection is great with a lot of world class teams and when you beat them in the Championship mode, Dream Teams. The multiplayer mode also adds a great gaming value to the game too. This is a great game for any age. If you just bought the G.B.A system and you're in doubt as to which game to get first; I recommend this one without any doubt! :-) Gamer and owner, Andrew H. KIng

BEST LAUNCH GAME,
By Jon Erricson (Lincoln, Nebraska) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Super Dodge Ball Advance (Video Game)
I have to give credit to Atlus on this one. I just bought this with Krazy Racers as my first two games, and this one, WOW! I thought it would be simple, you know, catch, throw, catch, throw, but no!(hey, that rhymes)There are seven players to a team. There are already 9 teams, and they are the China Dragons, England Knights, USA Braves, Australia Stars, Russia Bears, Holland Angels, Japan Ninjas, Canada Foxes, and the Korea Bombers, each with there own team captain, who is (obviosly), there best player. Now, it's time to create your own team. If you select championhip mode, you create your own team, from the team name, to the players, there abilitys, and your home court. You will work your way through the rankings, and when you are number 1 in the coaches poll, you will face the Dream Teams. The only one which I know of now are the Iron Men, which I still have to beat. If you select Exhibition mode, you may choose between the 9 different teams or one of the teams you have made yourself, and the court. There happens to be different courts, each color representing different surfaces, green is a normal court, blue is an icy court, red is a dirt court, yellow is bouncy court, and purple is a super bouncy court(and I mean bouncy.) Some of you may say that the gameplay is simple, not so. There are 50 different throws to master, catch and dodge. Some of my favorites are the piston shot, split throw, sidewinder, satellite, hailstorm(very hard to do, but hits hard!!), compressor and the mach throw. Another bonus to this game, you can link up and play a friend. All in all, I really enjoy this game, and there is no doubt that this is one of the best launch games for the GBA.

I got my Game Boy Advance the day it came out. Unfortunately, all of the local stores didn't carry this marvelous masterpiece. So I waited. And waited. And waited some more to finally get my hands on this game. And let me tell you, it was most defintely worth the grueling wait. This game is by far the best remake of an already instant classic. Super Dodge Ball first made its debut on SNES, and it wasn't exactly the biggest blockbuster to hit the gaming universe...but its GBA counterpart has without a doubt left a HUGE dent in video game history. This game, however, has an absolutely horrible storyline, but then again, who really cares? Going to the gym and whacking people with rubber balls every day in school doesn't exactly qualify as something with a point to it", but is sure is fun as anything! This game puts those wonderful memories in your hands with massive Super Throws and virtually endless strategies to make you the Dodge Ball champion of the world! I would highly recommmend getting this game the moment you have enough money. And if you had to wait a whole month and a half like I did, you will not, I repeat WILL NOT, be dissapointed!

Awesome Game,

Super Dodge Ball Advanced is a great game. In my opinion, its got lots of replay value. Sure, you can beat it in a half hour or less, but its a sports game, so you can keep playing. The graphics are average, but how good graphics do you need to play a dodge ball game anyway. The music is alright, but a little repetitive. The game can be either really hard or really easy and anything in between with the five difficulty settings and other settings too such as, how tough it is to throw a super throw. You can link up, but I never have so I couldn't tell you how fun that is. To sum it up here is a list of pros and cons.PROS- 1. Good replay value 2. Multiple diffuclty settings 3. Average graphics 4. Appropriate for all ages, but then again, what isn't 5. Its dodgeball 6. Game Link compatible 7. You can name characters and teams even not your own CONS- 1. Repetative music 2. Unlike the NES game, there isn't a bean ball mode(mode that pits you individually against your teammates on a field) 3. Also unlike the classic, there aren't any River City Ransom Graphics, instead people don't even have noses. If you never played River City Ransom, the old dodgeball game or World Cup just forget that con 4. There is no team creator, which really, really sucks. That also ruins the whole point of versus mode too because you both have the same premade teams with just possible name differences. 5. Too short of a game, needs more teams or something.

This game is a blast but I must say its extremly shawdow. Fans of the old dodge ball game from an older nintendo system will probly love this game, I did but then I unlocked everything in a hour or so, sure there is more matches to play but its just a bunch of the same, I wore this game out in a day or two which is a shame because its a great game...just not enough substance. Get it if you pay $$$ or less definatly, think about it strongly otherwise.

This game is so much fun! There are fifty superthrows and I have figured out about five and they are all great! You can name the players after your friends and family. There is a championship mode where you battle international teams to be the world champions. It's a blast!

Excellent...if you have 2 players!,

I am one of those die-hard fans of the original game on the original NES. Needless to say then, when I saw a new, improved version, I was more than happy to see it on a portable platform! Unfortunately, I was a lot younger when the original came out, and I found one notable flaw: One player mode gets pretty boring. That said, if you have 2 players and a link cable, this cart is a must buy!The basic premise is this: two teams square off in a tennis-court shaped thingy, with 3 players from your team on your side of the court, and 3 others waiting in the wings on your opponents side, waiting for the ball to go out of bounds, or to have a closer throw. Your opponent gets the same setup. When the whistle blows, prepare for some elementary school-style chaos! When you have the ball, you throw towards your opponent, trying to pelt him/her in the head. If you score a successful hit, a certain number of "hit points" are taken away from the receiver of said smack. If you are good, (or if you read the instruction book :P) you will discover how to do SUPER throws, which create some funny effects on the ball, and lop off a good chunk of your target's hit points in the process. If the opponents hit points are drained to zero, the player is out. Get all 3 players on the opposing side of the court out, and you win the match! (Never mind those other guys standing out of bounds...) But beware, your opponents' objectives are the same as yours. I would recommend this game for anyone looking for a different spin on the sports genre. It's reliving the fun (and the pain) of dodge ball days all over again!

GREAT Multiplayer Action,

This review is from: Super Dodge Ball Advance (Video Game)
Dodge ball may not be as fun in real life as this game. You might remember Super Dodge BAll for the original Nintendo, which was a great multiplayer game back then. Well, it still is a great 2 player game for GBA, as Atlus relases and updates it with style. Immediately after you start playing, the fun level will be obvious. This game is fast and wild. You can smack your enemies in the jaw in many different ways. Using combos, you have throws like the Snake Shot, Sidewinder, Multishot, or Pause Shot. If you like to manage your players, then you can with options and player stats you can chance, like formation, toughness, and agility. Colorful graphics, lively music, and good controls make this game pretty good, especially for two players. If you want a crazy multiplayer game, then you've got it here.

Maybe this guy hasn't played the game yet, but it's good. You catch the ball, and press A to throw...it's the same concept as Super Dogeball for the NES back in the day and if you are an old school gamer whatsoever, then most of you will remember this game as being incredibly fun. How can you go wrong with a sequel with better graphics and the same type of gameplay? I don't think you can. Oh and same programmerse too, just under Atlus instead of Technos Japan.
