I'm confused about all of the five-star reviews this book has garnered. I found it to be simultaneously a rehash/summary of any number of other personal finance books and a plug for the author's financial advice business. The writing style is casual and often simplistic, full of fluff and clumsy transitions. Here's a quote (possibly the worst offender):

"You may have seen the movie Transformers, where cars and airplanes transform into fighting machines. Interestingly, in real-life America, another transformation is going on, but it's not cars and airplanes. It's America's hard working middle class dramatically transforming into what I call America's New Middle Class."

I did like the advice to share your personal financial wealth by donating and volunteering, as charity is often overlooked in society.

I thought the personal success stories were interesting, but the book never explains how, for example, a man and his wife were able to pay off five mortgages, purchase property in Florida and Hawaii, and retire all within three years, among other examples.

The book is short; it only took me a half hour or so to read through it all. It's also only $0.99, so it may be worth your time/money to breeze through it. Two stars for the modicum of actual advice contained within, and for being super duper short and inexpensive.

This is the information EVERYONE needs to know to begin the journey towards personal financial freedom! It's not complex theories of market behavior or analysis of academic theories of global finance. It is the basic knowledge that every American family needs to begin to get their finances under control.

Alan Akina does a great job of presenting the information in a way that is accessible by everyone. Very cool to be able to click right from the links in the book to the nonlinear videos on my Kindle Fire!! A great quick read packed with valuable education. I can't wait to see where the series goes from here!
