I bought a mini netbook from a friend, but no cdrom. So came online and searched to land on amazon.com with this. At 1st i wonder will it work? So i took the chance and behold it worked wonderfully. I have a Hp 1116nr netbook, i plug the 2 usb cable in and poped Win Xp into the drive 1st boot up i was installing windows. I would recommend this to anyone with a type of netbook. If you useing it to install windows like i was, just make sure you know how to set the boot up for cd-rom. The only down side is it uses up 2 usb ports. 1 for power and other for drive, other then that it worked great.

Although the seller was very quick in mailing out the item, the product itself was defective. I checked reviews when I first purchased it and everyone was very pleased. Sadly, when I had problems with the drive, I found that the most recent reviews indicated non-working products. Perhaps this was just the time of year for defective batches.

I contacted the seller and was told to send the drive back (stupid me I did not notice that my child had left her Sims2 CD in it after she couldn't get it to work). Unfortunately, I had to pay for shipping it back which was almost as much as the drive cost in the first place AND I lost our CD.

I would have to say that it is not really worth it to risk purchasing this item.

This works well. It doesn't play DVDs, so if that's what you are looking for, keep moving. But other than that, it's extremely easy to use. Just plug and play.

For the money, you're getting a great deal. It works exactly as described. Very easy to use.

I was surprised by the sturdiness of this product. It worked immediately upon plugging it into my laptop. I'm using it with a Dell mini Inspiron 10 that runs windows 7 starter.

So here is the deal: this is a basic cdrom reading drive. It comes with TWO USB cables that need to be connected to the device and to your computer. One of the cables supplies power from your computer to the device. The other allows the device to communicate with your computer. In other words, you should make sure you have two available USB ports on your computer to use this product. Each of the cables is about 18 inches long. Everything is black.

I had no problem with the device. It installed automatically (I'm using a Dell Latitude laptop and Windows Vista). I have been using the device without any problem to import music from music cds into iTunes.

I have not tried to read a DVD on the device, but I assume that it is only a CD reader.

Surprisingly, for the price, it works just fine, no complaints.

I purchased 2 of these for my children . They both have netbooks . My son has a Dell and for Dell this product costs about $150 . And my daughter has an HP . It too costs about $100 or more. So this was a steal. I only paid maybe $20 for both including delivery . I am truely pleased .

Excellent product, does what it says it will. My CD drive on my computer is ill, using this is helping my avoidance of the problem! Am very satisfied with this purchase.

My cd rom on my laptop stopped working and this external usb cd rom, helped me to install Norton Antivirus. It arrived quickly and safely. Thanks a bunch!! ;-)

it just did not work at all but i cannot return this item.
because it is more expensive to delivery back.
i totally waste my time&money on this item.
