The series featured the adventures of DC Comics book heroes Superman, Batman, Robin, Wonder Woman, and Aquaman. These five superheroes along with superheroes in training Wendy, Marvin, and Wonder Dog focused their abilities on putting away criminals, saving lives, and stopping terrible disasters. Each episode of the SuperFriends was geared to present, not only action, but also some lesson of educational value. A number of other famous DC comic book heroes appeared: Plastic Man, The Flash, and Green Arrow Eight 1-hour timeless adventures in a Deluxe 2-Disc Collector’s Edition showcase the universe’s greatest heroes paving the way for a brighter future.

You've been waiting for it and now it's here. Volume 2 of the 1973 First Season of Super Friends, with Wendy, Marvin, & Wonder Dog is now on DVD!

The episodes from this season were an hour long each (about 46 minutes without commercials) and focused more on mystery solving and plot developments rather than pure action and adventure stories like later Super Friends incarnations.

Our five-year old and four-year old superhero fans won't be watching the PG and PG-13 movies released this summer -- The Incredible Hulk, Iron Man and The Dark Knight (Batman). What can a parent do for little superheroes looking for some wholesome yet exciting action?

This two-volume collection, Challenge of the Super Friends, brings back the fun, simple stories that used to fill Saturday cartoon mornings. Parents can rest easy that heroes and villians are clearly identified. The messages are simple, good triumphs over evil.

Kids over 10 probably won't be as entertained by the simple stories and animation. However, this collection suits well for parents looking for something relatively safe to entertain younger children.

My 3 and 4 year old love these videos. There are so many episodes to watch and so many different heroes and villians that they never get bored. The only problem is that my husband loves to watch them too.
