Biography

Styles P., government name David Styles, is no ordinary rapper. He embodies true thug-life to the fullest, and then some. His blood gauging lyrics will leave you cringing and wounded. A hardcore runner whose thugged-out persona leaves admirers and challengers for the chase-and he's so far ahead of the game that there isn't anyone who's remotely close to catching up. Editorial Reviews

2007 release, the third album from Styles P and the follow-up to 2005's Time Is Money. Armed with his trademark voice, hardcore punch-lines, and no-nonsense delivery, the self proclaimed ''best hardcore lyricist in the game'' is officially one of the most respected Hip Hop artists in the game today. He is also 1/3rd of the street Rap super-group, The Lox (which also features platinum-selling star Jadakiss).

Very balanced album little of everything lyrics are great!

Unfortunately though, the flaws include somewhat of a limited subject manner, two very average tracks ("Leg's Go" feat.

This is Styles P's best work to date until he makes another album that tops this one.

Here is an actual review for the talented Styles, not just another quick comment. Basically SP brings us another quality album. Unfortunately though, the flaws include somewhat of a limited subject manner, two very average tracks ("Leg's Go" feat. Ray J & "Holiday" feat. Max B) both with horrid choruses. Also the skits aren't bad, but they're still skits (kind of pointless, no replay value). Moving on, the production is a B+ and Styles brings his heavy delivery, quality lyrics, street knowledge, and swagger. He is aided on the mic by several good guest appearances also. The only way you will not like this album is if you don't feel Styles as an artist. Otherwise it's pretty impressive.

Best Lyrical Performance:
"Green Piece of Paper"

Most Unique Topic:
"Da 80's"

Best Production Award:
Dame Grease - "Shoot N*****"

Best Guest Appearance(s):
Jadakiss & Sheek Louch - "Gangster, Gangster"
Ghostface - "Star of the State"

Best Overall Song(s):
"Alone in the Streets"
"All I know is Pain"

A Gangster And A Gentlemen (2002)(*3.3*) Check out track: "Nobody Believes Me"

Styles P has shown the most consistency out of all The Lox and he keeps that moving with this release. The first single Blow Your Mind(feat Swizz Beatz) is an updated version of Good Times(I Get High) but a lot better. Alone In The Street and Shoot N***** are pretty good tracks too. All I Know Is Pain is fire. Styles P's rhymes well over a dark beat provided by the HUGELY underrated Alchemist. Akon makes an appearance on Got My Eyes On You-- a track where Styles P explains to those would-be gangstas that he's watching them. Styles P's cocksureness on the mic is well evidenced in tracks like Da 80s, Super Gangsta and Shoot N*****. There are some pretty dope collabos on here too. Ghostface contributes a hype verse on Star Of The State. U Aint Ready 4 Me feat Beanie Sigel is the hardest collabo I've heard all year and that track is also on Beanie Sigel's The Solution(cop it). No Styles P album is complete without Sheek and Jadakiss and they show up on the dope Gangsta Gangsta. There are some flaws on this album. Let's Go feat Ray J is a complete mismatch and boy does it show. Green Piece Of Paper is ehhh and the Tron-sounding Look At Her is corny as hell. There are tight tracks that have bad guest appearances too. Holiday(feat Max B) is tight but Max B doesnt do the hook justice. In It To Win It is tight also but Bully's appearance was weak. The album does end with a great track, the conscious Cause I'm Black feat Black Thought. Bottom Line: While the album title sounds it was concieved on the spot, this album sounded like it was taken time to make and it pays off. Styles P's wordplay was great, the production was sick and and the guest appearances(with three exceptions) were on point too. This is Styles P's best work to date until he makes another album that tops this one. Standout Tracks: ALONE IN THE STREET, SHOOT N*****, ALL I KNOW IS PAIN, GOT MY EYES ON YOU, DA 80s, SUPER GANGSTER, STAR OF THE STATE, U AINT READY 4 ME and CAUSE IM BLACK.

I'm glad that he finally brought it back to the realness. Styles P had kinda lost me on his last venture. Every track on his last album sounded like he'd been hanging out a little too much at the strip clubs in Miami, but on this album (Super Gangster, and Extra Ordinary Gentleman)there's no mistaken his menacing flow. Lyrics have never been an issue for Styles, who defiantly boasts about being the absolute best in the rap game, and truthfully after listening to this record you'll understand why. Production is tight from start to ending, and he's one of the very few rappers today that actually has topics other than "The Almighty Dollar" on his damn album. Styles' concepts are pure genius. Thanks for bringing it back once again.

Stlyes returns with his 4th studio album from 12/06 - 12/07, not to mentiona bout 3 pr 4 mixtapes in the same time period, making him probably the busiest man in hip-hop over the past year. Like all the other albums, its a solid effort, probably deserving 4.5 stars. With 16 songs, on here, you get one classic, 2 almost classics, 2 are ok, the other 12 are good, with a few being real good songs. Guests aren't too heavy, rapping on 6 songs, and doing hooks on a few others. Like always, most of the album is street oriented, a few radio friendler songs, but for the most part he has the same material he is good at delivering. Production is good as well. Vinny Idol does 3 songs, Alchemist, Poobs, and Dame Grease all do 2 songs, Swizz BEats, Hi-Tek, Pete Rock, Mr. Devine, Akon, Green Lantern, and Kid Capri all do 1 song. A nice album for fans of real street rap to have.

styes p new cd
Long answer: Styles P is the kind of rapper I want to ride shotgun with while he explains everything we drive by like "O'er there's the dry cleaners where I take my suits" and "Sleezy-D got jacked on that corner" but in a fresh way, you know, not like if you did that with... Read More
