3.0 out of 5 stars Hyperactive Goofiness
Amazing Techno Dude (ATD) and Granny, the Bodacious Backwards Woman, keep the city safe from super nasty supervillains, especially super-stinky varieties. ATD and Granny get so many trophies from the city that they spend all their money buying display mantels--instead of super-cool super gadgets. So Granny advertises for a roommate.

5.0 out of 5 stars I LOVE SUPER GOOFBALLS!!!!!##!!!@!&!!!!!!!, May 3, 2007
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Super Goofballs, Book 1: That Stinking Feeling (Paperback)
I love the first two Super Goofball books!!!!! So funny. I love Amazing Techno Dude's tv head and powers.Blunder Mutt is really funny. Mighty Tighty Whitey is hilarious. THey are my favorites. All the goofballs have funny powers. In That Stinking Feeling I love the villains like the smelly Queen and Fabian. I liked it when Fabian blew up into a huge blimp from the beans. And when the Queen sang the nut song and the crazy squirrels chased her. And the wacky backwards talking granny. I was reading to my little sister and stopped because i was laughing too hard. My mom likes it too. It is my favorite book this year.I can't wait for the next one.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Book That Is Really Funny, May 3, 2007
This review is from: Super Goofballs, Book 1: That Stinking Feeling (Paperback)
Most books for kids are not that funny, but this one is. I really did laugh out loud when I read it. It's not like other kid's books that people write because they think if something's just stupid or really gross kids will like it. I've read a lot of kid books and this one makes my top ten. The pictures are really funny too, like the rock with the cape and the kid as a baby tv. If you like funny books you should read this book.

Finally a book that had my kid reading for more than 2 minutes, which gave me break from being Ben Kenobi and getting attacked by light sabers.

3.0 out of 5 stars Hyperactive Goofiness, February 7, 2007
This review is from: Super Goofballs, Book 1: That Stinking Feeling (Paperback)
Amazing Techno Dude (ATD) and Granny, the Bodacious Backwards Woman, keep the city safe from super nasty supervillains, especially super-stinky varieties. ATD and Granny get so many trophies from the city that they spend all their money buying display mantels--instead of super-cool super gadgets. So Granny advertises for a roommate.

The response is overwhelming, and now the tiny house is full of super-powered "Super Goofballs," as ATD thinks of them. He hates having roommates. He hates being a sidekick. And he hates that they still don't have money for super gadgets. But maybe roomies aren't so bad. Look what happens when the super-stinkiest supervillains start trashing the city. It doesn't look good. It doesn't look good at all...

Developed by Peter Hannan, creator of Nickelodeon's "CatDog" cartoon, this is the first book of the "Super Goofballs" series. Full of hyperactive goofiness, this is targeted to 7-11 year olds.

Fans of "Captain Underpants" or "The Stupids" will probably like the "Super Goofballs." Other young readers might find this series average to annoying, depending on their personality. If your child is looking for a gross-out read, this is only marginally disgusting (although the second one is a little better--better meaning more gross--in that department)

There's nothing horribly wrong with these books, although parents who discourage gross-out/stupid humor probably won't care to let their kids read them. Unfortunately, I just can't get too enthusiastic about this book, or the series. The "hero" of the series, ATD, is too whiny and selfish for my taste, and the gross-out humor isn't, well, gross enough. Make me reel and say "Ewwwww!" to make my day (without diving into overly bad taste, that is).

This is book is just average: not great, but not horrible. If your child loves "CatDog," then you might go ahead and try this series.
