I've had this disc since 1993 and it still an entertaining,relaxing piece of nostalgia today."Super Hits Of The 70's:Have A Nice Day Vol.19" is an amazing recap of the softer side of 1977,featuring such super-guilty-pleasures like Mary MacGregor's "Torn Between Two Lovers",former Guess Who frontman's Burton Cummings "Stand Tall","Starksy And Hutch" actor David Soul's "Don't Give Up On Us",Andrew Gold's "Lonely Boy",Kenny Nolan's "I Like Dreamin",and Alan O'Day's oh-so-70's "Undercover Angel" along with likable,upbeat soft-rockers like Orleans "Still The One",Climax Blues Band's "Couldn't Get It Right" and 10cc's "The Things We Do For Love".The catchy TV jingle(David Dundas's "Jeans On")and the ubiquitous "Rocky" theme(Bill Conti's "Gonna Fly Now")provide contrast to the sweet,sentimental pop of the rest of the set,but for the most part,HANY Vol.19 captures the 70's at its sappiest,which means it's completly successful in its goals.(By the way,all these songs made the Top 20,10 of which made the Top 10,and 4 of which made it all the way to No.1!)

Volume 19 of the "Have a Nice Day" series has a decidedly gentle sound to it, concentrating on ballads like Mary MacGregor's "Torn Between Two Lovers" and David Soul's maudlin "Don't Give Up On Us, Baby" to more middle-of-the-road but still melodic cuts like Orlean's "Still the One" and 10cc's excellent "The Things We Do for Love." The disc also includes the near-instrumental "Gonna Fly Now", theme from the decade's most prolific sequel producing movie, Rocky.

There isn't much profound thought or social commentary in these songs, just a lot of good music and fond memories. This one's a keeper.

Okay, so this CD has the overplayed "sell out" songs, like "Still The One", used to promote ABC's (?) new season in '76, and the "Rocky" theme that put Stallone on the map, but we also get some great slow ballads. "Torn Between Two Lovers", used as the theme and inspiration for a forgettable TV movie starring Lee Remick, certainly survives well on its own. DJ's used to comment they could not believe "I Like Dreamin'" was only from '76, because it sounded much older, much more "classic". "Don't Give Up On Us", belted out by a fellow who was in a forgettable TV show of his own in his spare time, is still worth humming and quoting. "Jeans On" is musically under-rated, and also notable for its "timestamp" of 70's culture when it mentions the "tiger in my tank". Andrew Gold could do a story song when he tried. Is "Lonely Boy" about his own sibling rivalry problems? Climax Blues Band has an unusually funky entry with "Couldn't Get It Right", even though they went on to a more mellow sound in 1981 with "I Love You". "Undercover Angel", another fun but naughty 70's song, has a special place in my heart. Used to blush every time I heard it.

A lot of excellent titles and all by the original artist, most of which are seldomly played on the radio today. The only reason i gave it 4 stars is because the sound quality is not as good as most other cassettes are.

Another great entry in the uneven "Have a Nice Day" series. You'll probably know all of these songs by their titles, and when you hear them, you'll remember them perfectly. Four of these tracks were #1 songs.

A continuation of the "Have a Nice Day" CD series, Volume 19 is another truck load of hits. This Volume seems to contain a bunch of tracks from the 1977 era. Do you remember what you were doing back then??

All of the CD's in this series contain extensive sleeve notes on all the tracks with release dates. There's that radio classic which I think we've all heard a thousand times?.. 10CC's "the things we do for love". This volume has a number of tracks that have been released on CD for the first time. What about Burton Cummings "stand tall". Other tracks include the original Rocky theme, Orleans "still the one", Mary MacGregor's "Torn between two lovers", Adam O day's "undercover angel", Andrew Gold's "lonely boy" and a few tracks I've never really heard of. But for the songs I've listed, certainly make this disc worthwhile

I don't appreciate the patronizating tone of the liner notes and I'm taken aback by reviewers who use words like syrupy to explain away the colorful diversity of 70s AM radio. I don't buy that for music to be cool it has to be loud rock and can't be soft ear candy. That's FM audio cop out conditioning by pop critics who think only bad is good and hard sounds are hip. Not so unless one has narrow minded taste in pop music.

This series is notorious for being inconsistent. And then some. Too many volumes are filled with trivial, frivolous filler. Yet here Torn Between Two Lovers, Don't Give Up On Us, The Things We Do For love and Gonna Fly Fly Now are 4 major hits that make it worthy. They bring back memories when the world was a happier place, catchier melodies reflected that and the radio dial and charts had room for all kinds of sounds.

Ahhh...freshman year, 1976-77, Catholic high school, suburban Philadelphia. Getting beaten for wearing tacky clothes, writing love poems to a senior who (correctly) kept walking straight, and listening to Chicago on the turntable and these songs on the radio.

It's all here for your acne-covered pleasure: songs of pride and self-determination (Burton Cummings' weepy "Stand Tall" and Bill Conti's #1 "Gonna Fly Now") of the politics of relationships (10CC's quirky "The Things We Do For Love" the Climax Blues Band's Staxified "Couldn't Get It Right") the special aspirations that keep a young boy awake (Kenny Nolan's "I Like Dreamin'" and Alan O'Day's oh-so-70s #1 "Undercover Angel"). And let's not forget the sad sagas of family strife (Andrew Gold's bombastic #1 "Lonely Boy") Kudos to everyone involved here, from Rhino Records to Paul Grein, who wrote the hilarious liner notes, to everyone who had the (dis)pleasure of hearing these songs the first time.

Everytime I get a CD filled with songs from my youth such as Vol 19, I feel young again! What a great mental health break!

I've been looking all over for "Don't Give Up On US Baby" and "I Like Dreaming".

I had been searching for a particular, obscure song that is on this CD for 3 1/2 years. The song is "Wham Bam Shang-A-Lang" by a group by the name of Silver. I searched on Napster, etc and could not locate it. Finally, after doing yet another search, I got a hit on Amazon. I had tried Amazon in the past and didn't get any matches in the MP3 files. I guess I should have searched the Music section. Anyway, I ordered it, it came fast and in perfect shape. Another great transaction with Amazon!
