4.0 out of 5 stars Peaks Early & Tails Off, July 18, 2000
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
This collection gets off to a fast start with three of Ball's very best, "Thinkin' Problem", "Watching My Baby Not Coming Back" (my personal favorite) & "Look What Followed Me Home". These are all great examples of Ball's best honky tonk. The next two are ballads, & although they're not bad, listening to them back-to-back is a bit of a drag. He picks the pace back up again with the rocking "Lonely Town". "Hangin' In And Hangin' On" is a mid-tempo honky tonker, followed by another soft ballad. "Circle of Friends" is a good mid-tempo country tune with a clever play on words. "Hasta Luego, My Love" isn't one of Ball's better up-tempo tunes. I would've loved to see "Honky Tonk Healing" included. I think it's much better than several tracks included here. But if you don't want to invest in all of Ball's individual albums, this collection certainly has enough of his best material to make it well worth it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not Bad, November 7, 2005

Jess "Jess" (Coal Country, PA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
Like one of the other reviewers wrote, this one starts fast and hard, and then quickly whimpers away. I believe the problem may be that David Ball didn't have a huge selection of hits to choose from!! Ball appeared largest right around the time that Clint Black gave up traditional country to pursue a more pop-influenced sound. David Ball grabbed the country music world by the 'nads with his "Thinkin Problem" and "Watching My Baby...", but shortly thereafter, all of his songs sounded pretty much the same and he disappeared from the charts. I'm not sure what happened, but it was apparent that he was competing with the other "Hat-acts" of the early-'90's. Still, a very good album, well mixed and produced, and contains all of his biggest hits (and a few that I've never heard of).

4.0 out of 5 stars David Ball Super Hits, August 29, 2007
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
I like David Ball's music and the honky tonk feeling I get from it. I love good old honky tonk and that is what he plays. I have several of his cd's and like all of them. Love his music.
