Greatest hits for a reason!,
By Gunther Vinson (Pea Ridge, Arkansas - USA) - See all my reviews

Jerry Reed has made quit a few recordings in the past, but never a compilation album this good! It has all the favorites : East bound and down, Amos Moses, When Your Hot Your Hot, and many more. Not only is it great for listening to at home, but you can listen to all your favorites on one album without having to change to other CDS in the car! I would recommend this album to anyone who is a die hard Jerry fan or to people who are just discovering the enormous talent of Jerry Reed!

More than just "East Bound and Down",
By "bswiss" (Buffalo) - See all my reviews

Jerry Reed, known to many as the hillbilly in the semi in "Smokey and the Bandit", had a pile of forgotten hits, which are masterfully laid out on this album. "East Bound..." is great, and "She Got the Goldmine" is a classic, but check out "Amos Moses", about an amputee beating up alligators, or "The Bird" (somebody get me a BB gun!). Laugh your butt off, and just for giggles, notice how many songs contain the phrase "contempt of court"..... "Super Hits" series are generally awfully good compilations, and I also recommend those by Johnny Cash, Waylon Jennings, and Geroge Jones. Moo.

A Good, Although Small Collection of Hits,
By Celtic Knut (NY) - See all my reviews

This is a good album, especially for the price. There are only ten songs on it, but a nice selection of his music. There are even a few ballads; "Remembering" and "I Love You, What Can I Say" which I either had never heard before, or haven't in a long time. If you are used to hearing songs of his like "She Got the Goldmine (I Got the Shaft)" these ballads will be a pleasant surprise. Jerry Reed was a much more versatile artist than his most well known hits would lead people to believe. A good album for the classic country fan who wants a break from the Nashville sound.

I grew up watching him playing the SnowMan in "smokey and the bandit" and the songs of that movie grew on me so much i love them to this very day!Unfortunalty only one from that movie appears on this album "East bound and down" but from that i took a gamble on seeing if any of his other work outside of that movie was any good, and i was pleased with the result! These songs are great, if your into this sound and brand, then this sure is a great album to have! just too bad it didnt contain the songs from "smokey and the bandit" but still the only country and western muso i like!

Fine Musician,

Jerry Reed's a comic, but don't ever forget he is a fine guitarist first and foremost. Not just funny lyrics here. Lots of great licks to enjoy, too.

I was working as a janitor at a high school in 76'. a concert was being held there that headlined loretta lynn , conway twitty and jerry reed , the other two performers came into the gymnasium by the back door , but jerry oh no ..the side door of the school. as jerry came in he walked over put his arm on my shoulder and asked ..do you hink it's gonna rain..SON.was pouring rain. so i replied no sir this is the devils way of getting even with us for wanting to have fun. i had only gotten out of the army a few weeks before that , jerry made feel at ease , i've been a fan from that day..i will miss the snowman , jerry treated everyone the same ..my favorite song has always been amos moses..thank you all for reading my review.

Amazing,

Count me among those mentioned in an earlier post that are just discovering Jerry Reed. Not that I have't seen him before, mind you. I knew him from the Smokey and the Bandit movies, and purchased this cd because of the song, "East Bound and Down." Let me say, "Wow". This guy's work is amazing, and I DEFINITELY will be buying more of his stuff in the future. The song's are comedic, full of beat and talent, and downright hard to beat. The man can fly on a guitar, and his vocals put you in the mood of the song. Get this one as soon as you can. You won't be sorry.

I will definetly miss the story teller Jerry Reed. Had to get this album to remember him by. It has some of his best hits on it that I grew up with. Long live "The Snowman"
