5.0 out of 5 stars *Sigh* 80's Nostalgia
Anyone who is familiar with mid/ late 80's pop has got to remember Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and the great jams they cranked out. All of the big ones are here. You get both of their fabulous #1 hits. "Head To Toe" starts out like a Supremes song and then takes off with a terrific catchy chorus *instantly recognizable.* "Lost In Emotion" was the other #1...

Anyone who is familiar with mid/ late 80's pop has got to remember Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam and the great jams they cranked out. All of the big ones are here. You get both of their fabulous #1 hits. "Head To Toe" starts out like a Supremes song and then takes off with a terrific catchy chorus *instantly recognizable.* "Lost In Emotion" was the other #1 and is just as great. Then you have the slow song "All Cried Out" which is beautiful and although Lisa Lisa comes off as sort of whiny, it justifies the song so it's forgivable. "Youuuuuu you leave me so confuuuused, now I'm all cried out...over you." An 80's slow jam classic. Plus, you get the great free-style dance jams that put them on the map in the first place. Who can forget "I Wonder If I Take You Home" or one of my faves "Can You Feel the Beat." A MUST buy for 80's music fans. I don't care what people say about the 80's. Free-style dance music like Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam is awesome and music just isn't made this fun anymore. If you like this, I also recommend music by Expose and Debbie Gibson. Ear candy to help you forget about your troubles!

5.0 out of 5 stars I REALLY like this album!, March 21, 2003
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
I got laughed at by the saleslady for buying this album. She looked at me as if, "What is this teenager doing buying a Lisa Lisa album?". I didn't care because I had grown up listening to Lisa Lisa on the radio when she was singing "Head To Toe" and plus I really liked her other hits like "I Wonder If I Take You Home" and "All Cried Out" so it was something I was willing to shell out cash for. I love this album because the music is pretty orginal, Lisa Lisa has a style that is unbeatable, the lyrics are catchy and those breakdancing beats are really danceable. My fave track has to be "I Wonder If I Take You Home" but I like the classics like "All Cried Out", "Head To Toe", "Lost In Emotion" and "Can You Feel The Beat". I also liked "Let The Beat Hit 'Em" and "Something 'Bout Love". This is the perfect dance album and one that you can play at parties, it's one of my personal faves and I recommend that anybody should buy this album and don't be afraid to just because it's old school! :)

Lisa Lisa is the BOMB! I remember back in the day when they had jams like these that got your head bobbin in the car. They really owed a lot to older motown bands as their music sounds something from The Four Tops and Supremes...however they incorporated mid-late 80's style into their music (notice the cool synthesizers). The best songs have got to be "All Cried Out", "Head To Toe" and my favorite of ALL "Lost In Emotion." Lisa Lisa is and will always be BEST in the old school catagory. It brings back so many memories I Just LOVE IT! Way to go guys (and gal) !!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent collection of their hits!, September 11, 2005
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
What has made Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam one of my favorite groups of the '80s is how they handled and paced their music career with the hits they had from four albums on Columbia. They were a hit the first time I heard them. I still love I Wonder If I Take You Home and All Cried Out is still a classic ballad. Lost In Emotion and Head to Toe smartly clash Motown soul with the 1987 sound. And what a shift from Full Force, who produced many of their hits to Cole and Clivilles of C+C Music Factory, who did the rollicking Let The Beat Hit Em from '91! Their '89 effort was okay, but lacked the bang of the others. Lisa Lisa has such a sweet voice on all the songs. She strongly matured a lot in the four albums and this collection does a good job in acknowledging their music career. The other two members were good in their singing and playing the music on the songs. They did some more albums in the '90s, but none can match what's on this compilation. A good introduction to those who like their '80s music a little more funky.

4.0 out of 5 stars Take it Home, July 22, 2000
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
The queen of Latin Hip-hop soul, Lisa Lisa shines on this set of big eighties pop hits with her crew Cult Jam. The songs for the most part are all upbeat dance gems that are very influential (ask Jennifer Lopez or even Janet Jackson for the matter) and full of great beats. The set really hits is stride with ahead of their time early tracks like "Can You Feel The Beat" and "I Wonder If I Take You Home" which prove that the Latin grooves can make great dance music and are brightly vivid songs about young love. These tracks make some of the best pop around now very seem lacking. Big hits like "Head To Toe" and the sweet "Lost In Emotion" is excellent modern mid eighties pop productions with a little soul influence in the vocals. Pure magic on CD these songs are. Prom classic "All Cried Out" is a lot more innocent on here than the over produced Allure version ever could try to be. "Someone To Love Me For Me" is very beautiful. "Let The Beat Hit "Em" is a powerful club hit from the likes of Clivilles and Cole. Basically the rest of the set leads astray with the lame R&B of "Something About Love" and an unnecessary Full Force feature "U Never Knew How Good U Had It". The set is excellent but the weak songs drag it down ("Little Jackie..." is iffy pop, but cute), but I think we can credit Full Force with blessing us with this set of dance gems that are as good now as they were in the mid eighties.

4.0 out of 5 stars O.G. Dance Diva..., September 16, 2008
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
In the 80's, Dance music was at an all time high...hard Full Force induced beats, a sweet voice and some sexy laced up outfits made Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam one of the favorite 80's Dance music groups...In today's less than stellar dance music world, the Old School/Freestyle gets a lot of play from me still...I'm an old school DJ and Lisa Lisa still gets the ladies to sing along to her with hits like " Head to Toe"...all the ladies at once ("Today started with a crazy kiss, on our way home"), Can you feel the beat, Lost in Emotion and of course her signature song " I wonder if I take you home"...this was a great time for music in general. (Later in her career she had a hit with "Let the beat hit em'") but her true fans remember the girl singing " All Cried Out" with the sexy lace and pretty smile...Today Lisa Lisa is touring and performing to old and new fans...she sounds great!...thanks for the dance floor anthems from another of the 80's Latina Divas!

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best 80's Hit, August 1, 2005
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
Lisa Lisa was the queen of the 80's. I think this is the best hits cd I've ever had with popular songs such as "I Wonder If I take You Home" to "All cried Out." I've had other best hits such as Madonna and Michael Jackson and I can say this is the most entertaining and brings back lots of good memories.

The 80s' classic"All Cried Out"is worth the price of this entire album itself!! It's a well-concieved tale of heartache and betrayal, that is told with(expertly)descriptive lyrics:"All alone,on a Sunday morning, outside,I see the rain is falling.." "Inside I'm slowly DYING,but the rain will HIDE my crying..."The EXPERTLY-used analogies of the intensity of heartbreak likened to the intense heat of a fire are WONDERFULLY done with:"Don't you know my tears, will BURN the pillow, set this place on FIRE,cause I'm tired of your lies!!" "ALL,I needed was a SIMPLE"hello" But the traffic was so noisy, that you could NOT,hear my cry!! "I gave you my love in VAIN!" "My BODY never knew such pleasure,my heart never knew such PAIN!!"And you..You leave me SO confused!!" "Now I'm All Cried-Out,over you!!This following line,I found very touching:"How was I to know, you would weaken so EASILY?!?" The "other" party replies"Never wanted to see things YOUR way,I had to go astray,Oh,WHY was I,such a fool?!?" "Now I see, that the grass is greener, but is it too late for me,to find my way home?!?"How could I be so wrong?!?"{Leaving me all alone!} Lisa further counters with more profound analogies of fire with:"Don't you know the HURT will cause an,INFERNO!!"Romance up in FLAMES,why should I take the blame?!?" YOU,were the one,who left me neglected!!{I'm SO sorry}Apology NOT accepted,ADD me to the broken-hearts you've collected"!! This song takes me back, all the way,to the 10th grade!!The song is made even better, with the BEAUTIFUL piano playing to the lyrics!!"Head To Toe" "Lost In Emotion"and"I Wonder If I Take You Home"are all vintage 80s' hits, that take me away to a time, when my life was happier and simpler!!What a RIDE!! Most-magnificent-music!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Reminiscing is Fun!, January 12, 2005
This review is from: Super Hits (Audio CD)
All of the "hits" were gathered for this one without being repetitive with remixes, etc. These are all the original songs, and in superb quality I might add. If you were a huge fan of Lisa Lisa & Cult Jam or are a newbie, this is for you. Whenever the 80's mood hits me, this is one of the first CD's I slam in the player. Get it before it's gone. Great price. Great music.

WILDFLOWER HAS SPOKEN (smile just a little :-})

They just don't make music like this anymore. These songs get you moving from the begining to the end. Singers like Lisa Lisa,Debbie Gibson and Taylor Dane sang with so much emotion. This music takes me back.
