I don't really write reviews on here, but I did want to add my .02 cents for this piece of crap floating hoop. The box it comes in looks great and dandy, and may be just what you need for the pool area. However, although it states on the box that it is "easy to assemble," don't be fooled, because it simply does not assemble! The instructions are crap, a one-sheet that has about 4 steps on it that are completely useless to you, and says things like "one tee coupling is left unglued to fit the net around," when none of the tee couplings are glued in the first place! I was left wondering if I had the right product for these instructions, as they make no sense. Also, place the tubes on the floor before you attempt assembly and you will notice that the rim doesn't even make a circle, it's a damn triangle! To make matters worse they won't connect that way because of the T-couplings, you'll just end up with a large half-circle and no more pieces to finish the connection.

The box looks groovy, but don't expect to use this product because you won't end up with what's on the box. Either take this back or have the store managers assemble it for you. Waste of time and very mind-boggling.

This makes pool time a lot more fun. It is well designed and is as good as new after many many uses. I just wish that it came with more than one ball, or that additional balls could be purchased separately.

I wish I'd taken time to read the other reviews before ordering this item. It is not possible to assemble as stated by the previous reviewer. I have worked on it for over an hour and the top part of the hoop cannot be put together. I have assembled tons of toys, furniture, etc, and this is a horrible disappointment. I purposely ordered this item b/c it said it was such high quality, but it is a nightmare. Directions were totally useless, and there is not an address or phone number to contact with questions. Now I have to box it all up and send it back. Save yourself A LOT of time anb stress and order a different pool basketball hoop!

Everyone that we have over loves playing basketball in the pool! I have children from ages 10 to 21 and all end up playing with this over the other pool toys. Even the adults get in on the action. I am not sure what it is about shooting a ball through a hoop but we all want to get involved. Beware if you are anything like my boys the games get rather intense.

My wife went to the pool store and came home with this simple pool hoop, and asked me to put it together. As I was doing so, it seemed like there were pieces missing to connect the rings. Looking at the directions and at the box, it clearly shows two 3 piece rings. But the angles certainly do not line up. So as I forced the pieces to bend to the angles I needed, they continuously popped out of the T-connectors. So I screwed the pieces in to the T-connectors and tried to bend them again and blam they creased right in the middle. So I went to another pool store looking for an alternative, and when asked if I needed help, I explained what happened. The girl said, "Oh we sell a ton of those and we never heard of any complaints, so you probably got a defective one." So I came here onl-line and saw 6 reviews, 3 with the same stressful problem and 3 with people who were over-joyed with their purchase and calling the other 3 incapable of putting together a simple pool toy. So I rolled the dice and took it back for a replacement. And Guess what, same issue!!! I even tried the hair dryer trick from another reviewer, to bend the pvc a little more and granted, it did soften the pipes, but also caused it to begin to crease easier. After an hour of working on it and a bunch of text messages full of expletives sent to my wife, I finally got the twisted wreck together. No exaggeration - TWISTED!! I would call it trash, but that would be insulting trash! You would think that a floating basketball hoop would be something common in this world, but unless you want a giant 48" inflatable ball / 56" inflatable hoop or this piece of crap, you are out of luck!! PLEASE HEED MY WARNING AND RUN FAR FAR AWAY FROM THIS NIGHTMARE.
Sincerely,
Mr. A Little Bit Crazier

I'm very happy with this basketball hoop and don't understand the negative "hoopla" (nyuk nyuk nyuk) from a couple reviewers.

The hoop was easy to assemble - took me about 10 minutes without help. I agree the instructions were minimal, but this isn't rocket science to assemble it. And, yes, the instruction page implies some of the parts are pre-glued, but if they had been you wouldn't be able to get the net on, so get over it! Glue is an option, but I chose to use the small screws included (I figure I can glue it if the screws wear out - PVC pipe glue should do the trick).

A couple insights that may help make assembly easier: Don't screw anything together until you have the whole thing assembled. One or two pipes may come loose from their connectors during assembly process, but they're easy to put back in.

Assemble the base first, using the slightly smaller "straight" T-connectors (the alightly larger T's have an angled/curved T-bar). The 3 foam cuffs slide (only slight pressure needed) onto each of the 3 base pipes (obviously do this before you push the pipes into the T-connectors).

Assemble the top (the hoop) next, using the 3 slightly larger, angled T-connectors. It's easier to slide the loops of the net onto each hoop pipe before you insert the hoop pipe into the T-connector. 4 loops of the net go on each pipe (there are 12 loops and 3 pieces of pipe that make the hoop - do the math yourself...).

Stick the straight upright pipes into the T-connectors on the base, then stick the other ends of the straight pipes into the T-connectors on the hoop. Since the base is a larger diameter than the hoop, the T-connectors will need to be at a slight angle. This is the only place where you may need to "finesse" the connectors - basically rotating them a little so that the upright pipes are at the needed angle to connect the top and bottom. Again, it's not rocket science and was simple to do.

Use the screws in the T-connector holes to hold everything together. Make sure the pipes are all the way in the T-connectors before screwing in the screws. If you prefer to use PVC pipe glue, have at it!

Don't be scared off by a couple negative reviews about difficulty of assembly or poor product quality. It went together easily and quickly. The ball comes deflated, but they include a (albeit cheap) ball needle for inflation. All you need is a bike pump.

And my grandkids love it. They're all grade school age, so I can't speak to whether the hoop would hold up to teenagers - but it's built pretty atrong. I might break out the glue for better durability if I had teens using it.

Oh, and great marks on shipping - it came quickly and the product box was inside a second amazon shipping box, so it arrived in pristine condition.

Big thumbs up!

Ok....here is the trick to putting this thing together. Like several of you, I was ready to return this floating basketball hoop because I could not get it to go together. I wondered if they made the pieces to big on purpose. I decided to try heating the ends of the pieces with my blow dryer to see if that would help. Sure enough, I was able to get them to go together after heating. You just have to figure out which are the male/female pieces that need the heating (just experiment with it). After about a half hour (and some blood drawn from one of my fingers), this 65 year old grandmother was finally able to get it together. The true test will be when my grandson takes it in the pool to see if it stays together (I may have to get out the duct tape!) Good luck everyone!!! It can be done.
