I'm assumming that no one will ever really see this review, but when I saw that someone had given this game 4 out of 5 stars, I felt it was my civic duty to tell the TRUTH about this game...it's terrible. Owned this game in the heyday of the sega ganasis back in the early 90's. And yes...I begrudgingly went through the entire game start to finish.
The first Hydlide was bad enough, but this one is even worse. The "battle" sequences are you running into enemies over and over again until one of you disappears. There is no skill to the combat. The graphics, music and controls are all a mess. The story makes no sense at all.
THE ONLY WAY YOU WILL EVER BEAT THIS GAME IS TO USE A WALKTHROUGH. It's ONLY saving grace is that the game is SO bad that it's actually kind of funny to play for a minute or two just to get a chuckle out of your friends. I still can't believe they made a sequel to Hydlide in the first place. As my daddy says, "You can't put lipstick on a pig".

For those of you out there who don't know "Super Hydlide is actualy the 2nd installation in the "Hydlide" series. The First one came out on the NES. Moreover, if you have played the first one than you will be pretty much at home with part 2. Despite what some say Super Hydlide is a fun game, once you take the time to get in it. Plus if your a Classic Game Collector than you just must add "Super Hydlide" to your history library.

Now on to the what your really reading this review for, how the game actualy plays.

Graphics: The graphics are a much need improvement over the previous installment. They are sharp and nice to look at.

Music: The music I think is pretty good, for the 16-bit age of corse. It is nicely composed, memorable.

GAME PLAY: This is what most us really wont to know, "Does this game play good?" I can say without a dought that it does. The controls are tight and responsive. And difinetly easy to control.

If you like idea of becoming a hero who rises from the depths of obscurity to save the world from an antient demon than "Super Hydlide" is for you, definetly worth your hard urned money. I give "Super Hydlide" a four out of 5.
