The Shadows of Knight were a blues based rock band best known for their Top Ten cover version of Them's "Gloria". After several follow up songs failed to duplicate that success, the group broke up. However, singer Jim Sohns hired a new group of musicians and continued to use the group name. Sohns managed to land a recording contract with bubblegum producers Jerry Kasenetz and Jeffrey Katz. They almost managed to get the Shadows of Knight another hit with the bubblegum classic "Shake" (it charted at #46). After that, the Shadows went on to record an album (their third), which is what we have on this CD. The album is a startlingly crude and unfinished affair. It's a strange mishmash of blues based garage rock, bubblegum and psychedelic rock. It has some good moments and some bad moments. The version of "Shake" here, by the way, is a much cruder, sloppier rerecording. The whole album is pretty sloppy, actually. And some of the blues workouts at the end of the album are practically interminable. But it does have it's moments, here and there.

Didn't recognize most of the ten cuts here,as 'The Super...' is apparently a later day compilation.Noticed there are three(3)tunes here penned by SOK vocalist Jim Sohns,"I Am What I Am","I Wanna Make You Mine" and "I'll Set You Free" along with a good Willie Dixon cover "Back Door Man".Decent late '60's garage rock.Certainly not their best offer out there,but check out Amazon's used price for this title.That makes it all worth while.

Can not compare with the Best of the Shadows of Night, Dark Side, but for 50 cents, plus s&h, it's OK.
