I still remember when I first rented this game as a kid, and oh man was I ever addicted. I loved it so much I racked up 2 weeks worth of late fees! Well, of course I eventually bought it. Everything about this game is great and sets the standards for RPGs to come. I'll cut it down for you...

Graphics: 5/5
The graphics are perhaps one of the best things about this game, especially when it first came out. It uses the same technology that Donkey Kong used and it is at a 3rd person angle. Graphics don't make any game but it sure contributes to this one, Mario has never looked better...ever.

Sound: 5/5
Yep, the sound is also amazing. Perhaps even better than the graphics. I can still remember the sound at particular parts of the game even though I haven't played it in over a year. The boss music will really stick with you, so will the tadpole pond music. But those are just a few of the places that are memorable. I really think the sound is what did it for me with this game, it just hits you in that classic way. Much like how Zelda: Link To The Past is, or Final Fantasy 3.

Gameplay: 5/5
Gameplay is also where this game shines. instead of just running around and going place to place like any typical RPG, you can jump, dodge enemies, run into enemies with a Star, even attempt to swim up a waterfall. This game allows for a wide range of actions within the field, among those i just listed. And the camera angle is just right for most of the jumps.

Fun Factor:5,000,000/5
Yepp, you read that right, five million. The fun factor is the hands down best part about this game. You can race on yoshi, chase a crazy guy up a hill, stomp moombas on pipes, battle optional bosses, attempt 100 super jumps, find hidden items set out by a trio of ghosts, hell, there's almost ANYTHING you can imagine! Although if you have some hang up about immaturity in video games, I would advise you to keep away from this game. This game utilizes every childish tidbit of humor you can possibly imagine, but that is what sets it apart from other RPGs! Instead of having a romantic (hey, that can be great too)storyline, it revolves around Mario and his goofy adventures(but there is a lot more to it), justt ake my word for it, this is the funnest RPG of all time, and probably in my top three as the greatest, maybe even top two!Hell, it may even be the best!

Storyline:5/5
Even thought he storyline revolves around a comedic plumber the story really cannot get any better than this. You wouldn't imagine a game starring Mario to have character development and backround stories for each one, but it indeed does. Unlike most games, the storyline is also very memorable. Whether its frogfucious admitting to mallow that he isn't his father, or bowzer finally becoming pals with mario, it's all good. If you havent played this game yet, you need to get it immediatly. It is very pricey though, so only get it for around 30 bucks or less...but if you have to pay around 40 it may be worth it. It will probably be a better idea to buy it instead of download it though, because you need to experience the entire game on the original console.

Overall : 5/5
...just get this game...now! Nuff said.

5.0 out of 5 stars I FREAKING LOVE THIS GAME!!!!!!!!!, June 25, 2005

This review is from: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Video Game)
So one day, while playing Zelda, Ocarina of Time, for the hundreth time, I began thinking about back before I had the great Zelda to enjoy. The first thing that came to my mind was this Mario game. The more I thought about it, the more I wanted to play it. But I have lost my old copy, and I can't seem to find it. But I will tell you, this game is incredible. The reason I'm reviewing it now is because I'm waiting for my mom to get home, so I can order it again.

First of all, the game has RPG profesionals Square (the creators of the Final Fantasy series, one of the most succesful RPG's of all time. If you didn't know that, you must, like, live in a hole or something) backing it up. This just shows that the RPG elements will be perfect, because I mean, how many Final Fantasies are there? Like, a hundred?

Second of all, the story is just great. Not too many games nowadays have great stories. There's plenty of twists and turns, and it's all quite interesting. Also, the game is quite humorous. Just looking at those pics by Phil brings back fond memories. I can't wait to get my hands back on this.

Back then, the game was quite ahead of its time. It is in full 3D, and boasts better graphics than some games I see today. Seriously, just look at those pictures! That's incredible for SNES! Also, the game is HUGE! If you play the game until you find and collect every single thing there is to find and collect (and knowing Nintendo, that's a lot), it would take you a really long time! This isn't going to be a game you just sit down and beat in six hours. I don't even want to know how much time I wasted playing this game. Jeeze.

Plus, the game is very much re-playable. In fact, to get some things, you probably will have to re-play the game. But that makes it more fun! There are even some moments in the game that I remember replaying the whole game just to get back to that single part. It's not a game you'll forget. Obviously, I haven't played it in years and I still vividly remember a lot of it. That could also be because I played it probably as much times as Zelda. That's a lot.

However, I would say this isn't a game for everyone, of course. If you don't like Mario, I suggest you don't get this game. If you don't like RPG's, don't get this game. The game does has it's tough moments, so don't get it if you're not at least 5 years old. Even if you're not very good at video games, get it anyway. I first got it when I wasn't good, and now I'm really good, so maybe it will help you. Also, don't get this if you're not good at commiting. If you don't like to spend more than 5 hours for a game, because it becomes boring around that time, you probably shouldn't get this. But get it anyway, because it's just so darn good.

*Takes a breath* Haha, that was really long, but it's hard not to go on a long time about this game. It really is incredible. The game's name is quite fitting. SUPER!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best games ever made!, June 30, 2001

This review is from: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Video Game)
Super Mario RPG is a great game. It's really challenging and fun, although I have beat it a couple of times. The graphics are great for a Super Nintendo game, and Bowser and Princess Toadstool get to play. Not only do you get to see new characters, you get to see new levels too. The story line is original and the game has lots of secrets. Although I have beaten the game, I doubt I'll ever find out all the secrets. If you want to by one of the best games ever made, buy Super Mario RPG.

This review is from: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Video Game)
I remember, when I was just about 5-6 years old, I rented this. It was MUCH different then any game I ever played, after all. Even today, being an RPG fan, this still gets a place in my heart.

The game was released near the SNES's last breath. And Square and Nintendo worked together to make this game.

GAMEPLAY: Very fun! It's an RPG with style. You can even jump. Their are lots of areas, and tons of secrets, and mini-games! The battle system is neat, and easy. You even get Peach/Toadstool and even Bowser in your team! You are going to love it.

GRAPHICS: Whoah! This is one of the best looking SNES games out there. Lush, detailed, 3-Dish graphics that surpass the SNES's abilities.

MUSIC/SOUND: Very good. The Forest Maze music is neat.

STORY: One of the better Mario stories.

Overall, a classic. Worth getting. It REALLY needs to be remade for the DS though,=.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Work Of Art, June 19, 2005
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Video Game)
This was one of the last games I got for Super Nintendo. I questioned getting it at first since the N64 was to debut soon, but about a fourth of the way through the game, I knew it was a good investment. The graphics are gorgeous and there are all kinds of fun mini-games to participate in. Even the little dialogue scenes are fun. The game is as challenging as you want it to be, and can be especially challenging if you try to fight a boss without having enough experience points first. It can draw you into some LONG battles. My favorite part of the game is buying, selling, and trading stuff.

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Super Mario Game With Neverending Goals To It!, December 30, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Video Game)
This game is a blast! It's also an RPG game. For years I've tried to attempt to make 100 jumps with Mario but, couldn't. Also I've tried to find a casino they have been talking about and I found it. What I'm trying to say is that this game has lots of goals to achieve so, if you want a long lasting fun game with mysteries get this. The music, bacground, sound effects are perfect. If you read this I will let you in a secret. If you got this game and want to know where grate guys casino is, it's simple to find it. After you defeated Boosters Tower, later return there. There is a juggler, talk to him and he'll let you play a game. Win as many games as you can until he gives you a card. Next pass all the places till you reach a place with soo many plants. In that stage you will then see 6 pipes. Go into one of them until you see a chomp. Go behind it and go to the corner(behind chomp)and jump 3 times. That's how you find the casino. I hope my review really helped you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Unbelievable..., August 24, 2005
A Kid's Review
= Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Video Game)
I first played this when I was in second or third grade, and just starting to get good at video games (Of any kind). And at the time, I really didn't know what "RPG" even meant exactly. The only other RPG I owned was the incredible Final Fantasy IV (Or also known as FFII, for the SNES) so when I got this game I realized finally what and RPG was. Didn't know what it stood for, but I knew what that genre was. Since my SNES is just about on the verge of stopping completely, I sure do hope they put this game and Final Fantasy IV (Or II) on either the gameboy advance or the Nintendo DS. I'd truly love it if they did that. They already put FFI & II on gameboy advance, so why not this one and FFIV?! Those games are my favorites for the SNES, along with all the other Mario games and Zelda Games, but those have already found their way to the gameboy advance and DS. Honestly, Super Nintendo and the original Nintendo are my favorite systems. I love N64 and Playstation (1 & 2), and mostly the gamecube, but I dislike the Xbox. I don't even know why. But this is a great old game that you will enjoy, unless you're just another dumb and hopeless drug-obsessed teenager with no brain, or and old beer-drinking moron, this is a great game, and any smart person, even someone who doesn't play video games, will agree.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE BEST RPG IN ALL HISTORY, January 11, 2003
This review is from: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Video Game)
Okay, all RPG's should look into this game. Squaresoft and Nintendo make a unstoppable combination. Unforunately, Squaresoft decided to take the wrong route with Disney's Kindom Hearts, which is nothing compared to Mario RPG. The characters are sweet, and the little secret behind Culex is sweet (Theres a way you can fight a FF2/4 guy in this game with the original FF2/4 Boss Music.) The storyline is actually understandable, Mario's funny since he can't talk, so explainings a whole new thing. Add in a sweet Battle system, a sword, and Geno, and the games the best RPG ever created to this day. No FF10 or FF11 w/internet will ever beat a game like this.

If you have not played it, somethings wrong with you. Get it off eBay or something, because its worth it; I promise.

--A Helpful Tip for current owners--
There is a secret behind the SHINY STONE. Take it to Monstro Town; make sure charas are LV24+ and check the doors for a surprise visit from Culex, a enemy of some sort related to FF2/4

5.0 out of 5 stars IF THEY DON'T REMAKE THIS GAME I'M GOING TO PUKE, December 9, 2001
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars (Video Game)
By far best plot and idea ever to jump out of the Mario series.
I loved this games graphics, which were really good for a SNES game. I loved the new characters, like Mallow and Geno. I also loved the new bad guys like Booster and Queen Valentino with her lacky Dodo. Though I've played some good RPG's (like FF7) and the plot could use some more twists, so I REALLY hope they remake it.
