Buy one of the older Monkey Ball games instead,

I have always been a huge fan of the Monkey Ball series. Super Monkey Ball 1 and 2 for the Gamecube are two of the best games ever, in my opinion. Super Monkey Ball Banana Blitz for the Wii was a great game too, although not quite as great as the previous entries in the series. After Banana Blitz, I had high expectations for this game. I'm sure you can guess by my two stars that I was sorely disappointed. The balance board controls are a complete waste of time, and when you play the Wii Remote there are tons of bizarre little heads placed on the course to make it more difficult. The courses are completely unimaginative. They are more frustrating than enjoyable or challenging. And to add insult to injury they have only included about 70 levels, compared to the 100-150 that are typical for the series. And why does Sega continue to include dozens of ridiculously shallow and unplayable mini games with the Monkey Ball series? Do not buy this game. If you are looking for a challenging Monkey Ball game for the Wii, pick Banana Blitz instead. It is only about 20 bucks and a much better game than this one. Or even better, pick up Monkey Ball 1 or 2 for the Gamecube and play them on your Wii. This game doesn't come close to the greatness of the other Monkey Ball games (with the obviously exception of the terrible Super Monkey Ball Adventure). It is obvious that Sega is incapable of improving upon the series so (sadly) they should just quit before they make another travesty of a game like this one.

After playing the other MonkeyBall game, my daughter wanted this game for Christmas. She was very disappointed. After each level, the game kicks into a credit loop that (apparently) there is no way out of. Sorry, but very few kids have any interest in who wrote and contributed to the game. She gave up on it after a few hours. Skip this one.

I know how to skip the credits!!,

The most annoying thing about wii Super monkey ball step & roll is living through the credit sequence @ the end of each world. My 6 year old, though, showed me how to skip the credits! It's 1-2-A. Push 1, keep it pressed. Then press 2, and keep them both pressed. Then A & hold all 3 for a few seconds.
This cheat upped my review from a 3 to a 4 for sure!! Kids love it (4 & 7 now).

My 6 1/2 year old son wanted this so badly he used his own money to buy it. Then played with it for maybe three days. It's been relegated back into the Wii "extra stuff" bix since then. To be fair, it's not like he's been playing the Wii at all. I was just a little disappointed how quickly Step & Roll lost it's shine. Oh well, another lesson learned...

The mini games are great - the main game is a little tough for the smaller guys but perfect for eye/hand coordination.
Fun all in all.

The game itself is fun and playing two players is fun with one using the balance board and the other the Wii remote. Unfortunately they force you to watch the game credits at the end of each level which goes on for several minutes. I can see some people have written there is a cheat to get around this but still it is completely ridiculous for the developers to have put this in the game at all. You can't even pause or exit the game for several minutes while the credits roll. So that lost the game one star. Another star is deducted because it can be a pain when trying to start a multi-player game. It's not very easy to get a multi-player game going and more often than not you end up starting a single player game or exiting back to previous menus. This part of the game was poorly designed and is frustrating. Otherwise game play itself is actually fun and gives us something to do with the balance board. As a note the game is more fun with the balance board but more difficult to control. Also it is too bad the Mii's can't be used and when you get a top score in the end you have to type in your name one letter at a time like the old school arcade games.

I tried to play this game with the balance board and couldn't get past a few levels. Using the wii remote worked much better. My biggest complaint is the credits that roll between each "world" you complete. There doesn't seem to be any way to get past them without sitting through the whole list of credits while a song plays. That is quite annoying.

I rented the game to see how it was. Me and my daughter played the game for less than an hour and we hated it. It is really hard to control and the music and sounds are anoying. To any that is interested in this game please stay from it.

What a boring and disappointing game. It is loud, too visually busy and hard to control. I have the balance board and it is a total pain to use this this game. I am 35, my wife is 32, and our kids (9,7,3) all tried the balance board for this game and hate it. It is unrefined and make you feel like you really suck at this game. Once we moved to the regular controller, it got easier. After playing for 20 minutes, I gave up. I would rather watch static on the screen then play this game. The kids like the mini games, but the regular game they all gave up on because it was slow and too hard to control.
The worst part of them all is once you beat a level the credit roll and you can not stop them. So crappy Japanese pop drivel plays and the only way to stop the three minutes of credits is to reset the WII. Wow, this part alone makes me think they did not do any play testing out side of the development team.
