5.0 out of 5 stars Extremely Pleased With My Purchase
After reading all the one star reviews of how these controllers are fakes and forgeries, I was very hesitant to purchase one. I lasted a few days before I began to fold. I just kept looking at the console sitting on my shelf without a controller to play it.
I began to not care if the controller I got wasn't genuine, I just wanted something I could play the system...

1.0 out of 5 stars Deception at its highest!, December 18, 2007
This review is from: Super Nintendo Controller (Video Game)
This came as such a great disappointment to me. I ordered two of these for a Christmas gift for a friend, and they are nothing like the original 1991 controllers that came with the Super Nintendo system. This website is misleading; as for one thing, no boxes came with it as in the picture, and the controller had a different color scheme, buttons that stuck out and were uncomfortable, a cord length that is ridiculous to fathom playing with, and plug ends that didn't even have the Nintendo logo on them. If you compare the controllers to the picture, there is a considerable difference in appearance, and I feel I have been scammed into buying these, as the website doesn't reveal the truth about these controllers; instead they post a picture of an original controller, a product this is not. This isn't even about nostalgic purposes either, as the controller really didn't pass my performance tests either. I tested it with Super Mario World, and can vouch that it was much more difficult to play with than my previous authentic controllers. I suppose the one good thing in the matter is that there is a 30 day no questions asked guarantee, and also the shipping and handling will be reimbursed. Well. It's ashamed I wasted my time with these. This was not what I was looking for, and if you are ordering these, do not expect what you see in the picture. Instead, expect something much more generic. I just don't understand why Nintendo's name is on this product. If I were Wei Yen, this would embarrass me so much.

Mannnn.... I've been had!!! I was trying to replace the crappy controllers that come with the FC TWIN... only to find out, these aren't any better!!! I could tell as soon as I looked at the controller it was a cheap ripoff! AND I HAVEN'T HELD ONE OF THESE IN 10+ YEARS!!!! The plastic looks different... it just looks different! And yes, just like others mentioned, when I plugged it in I thought to myself (wasn't this cord longer?!) because that was a complaint about the FC TWIN Cords among them just sucking in general..... MAN, I bought TWO of these peices of crap! Now I have 4 bad controllers! LOL...Now, I gotta go find a REAL one for like 30 dollars... YIPPPPIEEEE.... Get this controller if you want, 2 bucks is a good deal, but THIS ISN'T AN REAL SUPER NINTENDO CONTROLLER!!!! Just a knockoff/lookalike.

2.0 out of 5 stars Amazon got the listing dead wrong., December 23, 2010
= Fun:4.0 out of 5 stars

For starters, see that picture that Amazon is displaying? Well, that's a picture of a fake SNES controller manufactured by Yobo. The box shown, while designed to look official, is not the box for official SNES controllers. The actual Nintendo-brand controllers were a mostly black box with gray stripes on it, forming a similar logo to the one found on all the game boxes in the lower-right corner. The box used by Yobo to deceive customers is actually based on the SNES model 2 box.

Do I have a problem with Amazon listing these controllers? Not really. But Amazon needs to get its listings straight. The picture shown is NOT a picture of an official Super Nintendo controller. This should be listed as "Super Nintendo controller by Yobo", not "Super Nintendo Controller by Nintendo". Then, there should be a SEPARATE listing for used official SNES controllers, under the name that this one is under now.

So is this controller any good? Well, let me be honest, I have never touched them before, and I never intend to. But here is what I do know from other reviews:

1. The Start/Select buttons are plastic, not rubber.
2. The gray vinyl molding surrounding the buttons is olive in color, and it's a sticker, not a vinyl molding.
3. Most reviewers complain that the buttons are of terrible quality, though the d-pad is just fine.
4. The cord is short

But here's the good news: Although Amazon screwed the listing up big-time, there are many people here selling genuine, Nintendo-made controllers on this page. Buy at your own risk, and ONLY buy if the seller explicitly states that they are Nintendo-brand controllers. NEVER buy a "new" controller, because you will get the crap Yobo controllers or some other 3rd party crap controller..

I bought 2 of these controllers from "masterthegame". They were labeled as brand new in the box, and I was very skeptical. I just received them in the mail today, and they are definitely fake. The "box that they are brand new in is an obvious fake, as well. I'll keep them, but I'm kind of mad that they were completely mis-represented in the item listing. Just my two cents...

1.0 out of 5 stars This is not an official Nintendo controller, October 21, 2008

You will see these on ebay and other websites advertised as new in box original Nintendo brand SNES controllers; this is not true. These are fakes made in China with poor quality plastics and an extremely short cord. These controllers work for the most part but the buttons are extremely hard to press, the cord is, as I said, very short, and the buttons don't always do what you tell them to. One example of these controllers that I own always wants to go down, even when you're not pressing anything. If you want a replacement controller for your SNES look for a used original, it will serve you better.

After reading all the one star reviews of how these controllers are fakes and forgeries, I was very hesitant to purchase one. I lasted a few days before I began to fold. I just kept looking at the console sitting on my shelf without a controller to play it.
I began to not care if the controller I got wasn't genuine, I just wanted something I could play the system with. So I came on here to order one. I looked through all the sellers and noticed one that seemed surprisingly promising. It was $19.99 and was described as still factory sealed, so I bought it.
I'll be honest, I didn't expect to receive an original controller, but when I got the package I pulled out a box, still sealed, with a much more believable cover then the one on this amazon page.
Before taking the plastic off, I looked on the back, and what did it say? Copyright 1991 Nintendo of America Inc. and it had the "Official Nintendo Seal of Quality" on it.
So now I'm thinking, "Man, I paid $19 for this. Could I possibly sell it for upwards of $45/$50?" But my desire to play SNES outweighed the lure of the money.
I opened the box and out came a controller, all wrapped in plastic, and another plastic bag containing a usage manual, maintenance number, and a folded poster that says, "I TURNED INTO BOWSER'S WORST NIGHTMARE!" It also says PRINTED IN JAPAN on the bottom of it. I can't see any more since I have not opened the plastic bag.
After unwrapping the controller, I looked for some of the warning signs of it being non genuine. None were there.
The controller has the "Super Nintendo Entertainment System" logo on the front and on the back it says, MODEL NO. SNS-005, Rd. 1991 Nintendo, Made In Japan.
It has a good wight and feels very genuine.
It works perfectly with the system.

I'm not sure if I just got lucky, but make sure you read the descriptions of the products before purchasing.
It really helps.

4.0 out of 5 stars My review of a controller., April 17, 2004

This review is from: Super Nintendo Controller (Video Game)
This, my friends, is a controller.

It has buttons, which if you apply pressure to using your fingers, it will cause characters on the screens to do such things as jump, kick, punch, or shoot any number of weapons.

There's a cross on it that symbolizes the sacrifice and passion that went into making this controller. That and movement for the character on screen.

There's a start button. That begins the game or pauses the action, so that the player may re-evaluate his gaming strategy. Next to it is ally and colleague "Select" which performs it's namesake - selecting positive items of interest.

There are also, on the top, "L" and "R" buttons on the top - L meaning "left" and R meaning "right." Their possibilities are endless, from moving a character to performing moves.

A classic controller. The only bad thing is sometimes my fingers hurt A LOT after button smashing on this thing. Owie...

It's not the original and it doesn't work, it looks cheap. I thought it was the original from 1990's but it feels like cheap plastic. Don't buy.

I bought this so I can play some retro SNES games...the controller stopped working completely after a month. Not sure what to make of that...It was a used controller, so I imagine something was wrong with it to begin with so this is really on the seller
