21" R/C Super Police Boat Radio Controlled Electric Powered RC Ocean Guard

Bought this R/C Police boat for my 6 (almost 7) year old son to use in our brook out back and he loves it! It has dual motors for forward, reverse, and left right. Having reverse is great as when he was learning the controls at times he would be heading for the bank and not have enough room to turn - so reverse was needed. The boat is a good size so it can handle small wind ripples on ponds and such. Battery life is good we are happy with that, the light on the boat makes it fun to play with at dusk.

We bought this boat for our 8 year old grandson to use in the backyard pool. He loves it! The big size of the boat is great! Works terrific, nice dual action on the propellers. Has a good amount of speed, will fly across our 15' pool! Highly recommended, we are buying another one for the neighbor so both boys can race.

I got this and it is pretty awesome. It's larger than you'd think. I like the twin screws (Two Propellers) You can put one in forward and one in reverse and it will spin on a dime. It doesn't go very fast but I wasn't looking for a fast boat. It has a light on top that is pretty cool. It's fun to drive at dusk. It seems pretty durable. I wish it came with an instruction sheet. It doesn't say how long it takes to charge the batteries or the fact that you have to put it in water in order for it to work. I am using it in a marina. It would be an awesome gift for someone that has a swimming pool. This thing won't last forever but for $60 I think it's a pretty good deal.

This boat comes out of the box looking great, it is actually a pretty impressive looking boat, very good size for kids under 8 and it actually has really good details on the deck (police men, ropes, lights etc) that make it very interesting to look at.

The problem - a big problem - is that it didn't work when brand new. Like one of the other reviewers (hmmm, maybe I got his return!?) the boat motors wouldn't work. The lights on top worked, and when trying the test circuit (you use your finger to bridge a circuit) the motors actually worked. But the place where the box says an "on / off" button should be there was nothing.

Clued in from the other reviewer who says that he took it apart and the switch wasn't wired, I decided to see if I could fix it (my two kids were hanging off my shoulders waiting for this thing to run). Sure enough, after taking it apart, it was easy to see that there was no on/off switch wired into the thing, it simply wasn't wired to work! amazing to me, this wouldn't have ever passed a Quality Test, which tells me that this company doesn't do one)

So anyway, a simple solution was to bridge the test circuit by cutting the wire leads and wiring them together by hand. like hot-wiring a car It's a 30 second permanent fix once you have the thing apart. I didn't want an on/off switch anyway, once the battery pack is plugged in, the boat is on.

So after it was finally working, it actually ran pretty good. We had a windy day on the pond and it got blown around a bit, but with some practice it would still make headway upwind. It isn't too fast, good for younger kids on a pond or kids of any age in a big pool. If you want a speedy boat with power, this is not your toy.

It took me longer to write this review than it did to fix the boat. My guess is that they had a bad batch of these coming from China. If you got one from this batch (like me and at least one other reviewer) then you will either need to return it or fix it the way I did. If you get lucky with a unit from a different batch then you might be okay, as many other reviewers didn't have problems.

A toy shouldn't be broken when you get it new, so that issue is just not excusable, but with a quick-fix the boat ended up being pretty fun. Buy this toy at your own risk!

this seller in my mind is very poor. the product doesn't work and he will not respond to the needs of the buyer. i will not buy and other people should not buy from this seller.Any rating other than zero is too high. I have sent two emails to the seller and neither of them have they responded to in any fashion.

The boat is great, except I didn't get any instructions with it and didn't find out later that the boat is designed to work only when placed in water to prevent injury to small children, or (older) adults. Any way the remote control switch did not operate so I had to send the complete unit back to Amazon (per their return policy). I then ordered the boat directly from a supplier and had the same problem with the remote control, but this time they simply replaced the control and everything worked out fine. The boat is great, well built and fun to operate.

A China product that performs as advertised and is fun to have. Maneuverability, due to the twin engines, is great and it really moves fast.

We bought 3 different boats to play around with in our pond:

1. the 21" Super Police Boat--

This is a good little boat. It's got a very quiet motor, steers really well (2 propellers, it goes forward, backwards, left, right, and will even spin in place). It's alot of fun. It also has a light on top of it. The battery is rechargable too.

2. the Ocean Traveler Marlin Sportfisher boat--

This one is a piece of CRAP. The design is all wrong, it's too tall for it's width I guess, because it wobbles around in the water terribly. It tries to tip over whenever you turn left or right! (Don't waste your money on the Ocean Traveler Marlin Sportfisher!) It has a rechargable battery, but that doesn't matter, because no one will want to play with this boat anyway.

3. the 20" Seaport Work Tug boat with lights and spurt water--

This is a pretty good boat. It steers pretty well with one large propeller (goes forward, backward, left and right). It has a small water cannon on top that spurts water when you want it to (it's a very TINY stream of water that shoots about 3 or 4 feet). It also has a tiny light on top. The only complaint I have about it is that it's a little loud. It rattles terribly, especially when you turn.

I bought this police boat so my twin four year old boys could use it in our swimming pool. The boat looks great, steers easily (even for my boys), and is not damaged when they do happen to lose control and smack it into the side of the pool. The boat's top speed is about 10 mph, which is also ideal for their skill level. They love it. And when they are off doing something else, I sometimes take the helm myself. The boat is exactly what I expected and it's lots of fun.

I purchased the 21" R/C Super Police Boat for my grandson as a Christmas present and when it came time to use it last week the the boat would not operate after even after charging the battery as perscribed. It was very disappointing for everyone, there is no point of contact to discuss the problem and the instructions that are printed on the box are marginl to say the least. I do not recommend this product.
